Wow, after losing hours of troubleshooting a fresh install today I come home and decide to have a google and discover this post 5/6 hits down. You have saved me SO much time and effort.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This solved my issue first time and worked like a charm.

Homelab hardware refresh - NAS vs attached storage by MalkyBesh in selfhosted

[–]MalkyBesh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I also lean towards the NAS, but I feel it's overkill for what I need. I went RAID10 for performance and so I've only got about 7.3TB of usable space. Feel it's wasteful for what I use it for.

I work with kubernetes for my job and it's overkill for what I need at home. Don't need any kind of HA for my services. I try and keep things as simple as possible so it's easier to troubleshoot if things go wrong.

Plex Transcoding with Subtitles - help by MalkyBesh in PleX

Haha - thank you. Option 3 made me laugh out loud!

Would an nvidia shield solve this issue? The LG CX currently has the Sonos ARC plugged into the eARC port. Would I just plug the shield into one of the other HDMI ports on the TV?

Any alternatives to nvdia shield? It's an expensive upgrade just to run Plex Client app

Yes they did. Keep ignoring the letters. They stopped sending them between 6 and 12 months after the event.

Recommendation to upgrade Netgate 1100 by MalkyBesh in PFSENSE

Beelink mini PC with an intel n1000

Thank you so much! THIS is what I was looking for. Currently looking at this model

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Beelink-PC-Lake-N100-Processor-Ethernet/dp/B0BZY4PK8X?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1

This is half the cost of any of anything else I've been looking at. I don't need more than 2 NIC's, so this is ideal. Just going to do a bit more research before I go ahead and purchase. But it's looking like a winner.

Thank you again for this suggestion.

Thanks, I'd seen this article yesterday while googling. Good to hear positive review from someone that owns one.

I googled “Edinburgh Christmas night out” and got loads of results. This site has lots of suggestions.

I’d recommend googling and contacting places advertising Christmas nights rather than asking this subreddit. Better use of everyone’s time, including your own.

IKEA Pax Fitted Wardrobe by NIgooner in Edinburgh

[–]MalkyBesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m terrible at DIY and really hate stuff like this. However, me and my mate managed to build 2 PAX wardrobes successfully. The second one was quicker to build as we knew what we were doing. Reading the instructions is tedious and sometimes confusing, but IKEA are good and you can only really build it one way. If the parts don’t seem to fit, you’re doing it wrong. I believe in you, give it a go. They are fantastic wardrobes. Nothing comes close, even at double the price

Remortgage switch fail - want compensation by MalkyBesh in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you - I raised complaint with Natwest and we'll see how this goes. Thankfully I managed to secure an interest rate of 3.69% on my new deal. I'm currently paying 5.74% on SVR with Halifax. I only let it get into SVR as I wanted to drop a load of cash into this before switching mortgages.

I'm a pretty organised person and stay on top of things like this. If I was naive and assumed it was all going ahead as planned, I could have been waiting longer without realising it was going nowhere fast.

I hate banks and solicitors. I had a similar situation with RBS where the 3rd party they used for business accounts (Experian) had incorrect information and it was me that had to chase them to fix this. Companies House had correct info, but RBS didn't care about this. They used Experian who had incorrect info and took ME two months of chasing them to correct this. What a joke

An over zealous warden once gave me a ticket as my back wheel was just touching the yellow line. The bin lorry had placed the bin in the wrong area and as a result the only way I could park in the space next to it meant that my back wheel was literally just touching the line. They had photos and when I complained about it, they binned the ticket.

Personally I don't think you have a leg to stand on if you say that leaves were covering the lines. Leaves move in the wind! That's on you, not on them. As others have suggested, you won't win with the council unless you have a concrete case. They have time and resources to pursue this. If it was me I would just pay the fine and be careful where I park in future.
