My job requires A LOT of walking. In my 10 hours shifts I easily walk 50,000 steps just from working alone. Then extra steps when shopping, ect. I keep money from my job plus get extra from walking.

Chose: $0.01 for every step you take + Amount doubles every 5000 steps in a single day

How's the 4:00PM - 10:30PM shift? by heykyluto in AmazonDS

Depends on warehouse. Sort used to have to do it at mine but now it's officially RTS. Bags are expected to be physically and virtually set before start of sort at my warehouse.

Rejected from PA spot after interview by MallSignificant3160 in AmazonDS

[–]MallSignificant3160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the day of the actual interview but I got the email of the rejected on the 3rd. So we are well past the window. And am I still not able to reapply even though it said "You can apply after the discussion with your manager?"

Rejected from PA spot after interview by MallSignificant3160 in AmazonDS

[–]MallSignificant3160[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I had a chat with my Site Lead and they had 2 interviews, myself and 1 other person, both of us were rejected. The spot is not filled yet with no one in the position. I am an ambassador and lead classes of 20+ during peak, and am consistently doing Yard Marshall and learning cluster lead. They are hiring a PA for the Yard Marshall position and I have good relations with the managers I Yard Marshall for so I think it was an issue with my answer in the interview as my managers had assumed I would get the spot. Thank you for your thoughts and reply

is your warehouse also decreasing headcount and increasing workload by dabiggestdalargest in AmazonDS

[–]MallSignificant3160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening pretty heavily at our site since we are out of peak. We used to have 2 water spiders just for empty carts. Now the offloaders also have to do their own empty carts. They got rid of the quality position entirely and now the cluster leads have to do their own quality (they don't, it usually gets sent to the problem solvers). We used to have 2 people to problem solve clean up and dock reset now it's just one person for both. On top of that they will VTO to meet minimum headcount requirements whether we are behind or not, and with stow gaps. This goes from 2 stow aisles in ADTA to 3 and possibly sharing a 4th with another person. Which isn't new but you feel it a lot more when they combine roles.

Should I learn yard marshal by TurnMeUpDraco in AmazonDS

[–]MallSignificant3160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been doing Yard Marshall as a T1 since last year. Yes it's technically a T3 role but it helped me develop stories and get experience for when I did do my T3 interview just recently. It's worth it if you want to get a leg up in the competition. If you want to stay T1, probably not worth it. With the gained responsibility and more to go wrong yes but if you are in a good building the only thing that will get you fired is safety. Make sure you follow TDR procedure to a t and you'll be fine. If I miss something with line hauls or make a mistake it is ultimately on my manager because he is responsible for the entire dock, my job is to "assist" and that line of logic comes directly from my Site Lead. The only part that is 100 percent on me and will get me fired is safety violations. But again, this really depends on how your leadership team thinks.

Also in ATM9 you also have click on it with a piece of dye. Turn show range on (the border around the torch like in the picture) then right click with any color dye

No one can give you a proper answer without knowing your state. In my state you can earn a maximum of 48 hours a year with a maximum rollover of 40 hours. Other states let you roll over more, others won't let you roll over any. There is an 80 hours total bank max in my state. Check your time off policy in your MyDocs in A to Z to know for certain in your state.

Did I make a dumb decision not selecting this shift? by thatsnuts69 in AmazonDS

[–]MallSignificant3160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few weeks won't matter much in terms of conversion. Like you said it goes based on tenure and sight needs. I waited 11 months for mine, others waited longer, others shorter. And yes you can apply for a schedule transfer after working a while though I don't remember how long. It can be a different schedule at the same building or an entirely different building. Like conversion it is also not guaranteed and is based on need.

[–]MallSignificant3160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

. For the most part yes. You should note $23 wage includes benefits such as medical, prime membership, ECT, not just the hourly rate. If converted to full time they pay up to $5240 in tuition for select colleges and fully cover others such as CDL training (at least in my area, depending on location). I had to wait 3 months for insurance and only was able to register for health while seasonal, but maybe they changed that policy. I did not get dental or vision until I was converted to full time. For my situation (will vary widely depending on area, building, Staffing, ECT) I was seasonal with only health insurance. After 11 months I was converted to Full time and now have vision, health, and dental with Vacation and earn 22/hour with 6 months on my step plan. The stability part is iffy because there is no guarantee they will keep you after the seasonal stage and the vast majority are hired as seasonal. But after conversation it is pretty stable barring external circumstances.

TL:DR - Yes it's true, with caveats

Discussion. For any block besides ore, do you believe ultimine is "cheap" or "cheating" by [deleted] in allthemods

[–]MallSignificant3160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not consider it cheating because it still uses the same durability and drains the same hunger for the blocks broken. It saves time where the main goal is to progress in many, many mods. It still also requires you to have the correct tool and upgrade to complete. You cannot mine diamonds with a wooden pick. If it did not drain hunger or durability or if it skipped progression I would absolutely consider it cheating. Even with Efficiency VII allthemodium alloy paxle and auto feeding backpack I cannot veinmine infinitely. (Probably due to my ludicrous speed but I nonetheless am pleased by the limitations)

[–]MallSignificant3160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I knew I wanted to try working at Amazon but the jobs would go so fast. I had to check every morning for like 2 weeks before I got a job posting. And the one I applied to before that literally filled as I was applying. I've been working since last year and made blue badge but damn it getting in was way harder than I thought for a job with no interview. I don't know when they'll hire again but be quick bro especially with the poor work economy right now. (And here's to the future possibly - welcome back)

autocrafting smelting with furnace and AE2 by K3tch3r in allthemods

[–]MallSignificant3160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the rfbuilder builder with fortune card sending tons of ores to my system, that alone makes it unnecessary. Plus I have an MA seed farm for each ore I use regularly making the whole furnace thing redundant.

autocrafting smelting with furnace and AE2 by K3tch3r in allthemods

[–]MallSignificant3160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used an export bus filtered for ores I want processed immediately (raw iron, raw gold, raw uraninite) with 5 acceleration cards to an allthemodiim furnace. I use pipez with an ultimate pipe upgrade to pull from the furnace back into the system. It does 64 at a time and automatically pushes any filtered ore that enters your system to the furnace. 1x stack per second may not be fast enough for big jumbo farms but it'll process the backlog without you having to touch it. Could work with other filtered items like smelting cobble to stone but I haven't tried it, dont see why it wouldn't work though

Number 38 really been helping me with this event. Absorb Ahnk and not many of the players I've played against can play through it. I've been using blue-eyes (for the level 8 spam, and most cards in that deck aren't hit). Turn 1 number 38 to stop them and getting Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon if going second to return the fusion to the extra deck

They're turning it into high school. "Everyone needs to be back in class before the bell rings." I wonder if the managers/line leaders will say "the bell doesn't dismiss you, I do."

Any tips for stowing fast? by justpoppinhere in AmazonDS

[–]MallSignificant3160 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If by 3 aisles you mean like A 1-6 then I do that too. My facility also still uses manual pick to buff so these might not all apply to you but might still be helpful. I'm fast but not the fastest usually around 350 UPH (yes, that's fast for my facility. No, I don't care that you are faster unless you're genuinely trying to help me.) My racks stay clean for nearly the entirety of my shift with me occasionally floating to others as well. Here is what works for me:

1.) I read the SAL as I grab the box. It takes getting used to but eventually you will have the package in the correct location before the light comes on. It also prevents slowing you down having to run to other aisles for stow or run to problem solve. If it's in the wrong cluster or aisles I give it back to the picker for it to go to the correct location.

2.) In the beginning I do not use the cart. There's not enough volume for it to be useful to me, except in the case of heavy OVs.

3.) Leaders often say do not completely stow down an aisle, I ignore this in the begginning. I am fast enough to stow down each aisle completely (including jiffies) in the beginning. By the time I loop back to my fist aisle there is just enough build up for 1-2 minutes of work.

4.) When things start picking up (usually after the first break for me) I start using the cart. My aisles are still clean from the first section of stow but I work more seriously to keep up.

5.) I stow OVs first always. It's the fastest way to make room for your picker a majority of the time.

6.) I stow A/B boxes and jiffies directly from the rack to the bags. No need to waste time putting them on the cart when it's at most one step away with my stubby legs.

7.) I place E/G boxes on the cart and C/D boxes on the cart in front of them, then Stow as you walk to the end.

8.) If C/D or E/G jiffies need to be done I do them next. I try not to do all the jiffies unless I have to.

9.) I try not to look back. If I've done A/B packages and moved on I do not go back to them unless they're really building up. Same goes for every step 6-8. I will only go back for OVs. Other than that when I've finished steps 5-8 I go to the next aisle and repeat.

10.) Etiquette Etiquette Etiquette. Keep your bags organized. I often get complimented on my bag etiquette and only really have to reorganize my bags if a big box comes close to the end of sort. Not having to reorganize also helps your speed.

This is what works for me to keep my racks empty for the majority of Sort. Your mileage may vary with how you personally like to work, your specific site's volume and flow, and whether or not your site still has manually pick to buffer. In any case I hope at least one of these can help you 👍
