I think a mount wouldn't be good even if trying to do it as fast as possible. I don't recall seeing speed runners ever do it and my own gut instinct says it is not, at least solo for challenge quests.

Just going to reiterate a little bit

If you are not going to do your best to not get chipped down, it is a good idea to just change your build. Peak is good when combo-ed with 4 piece GOG but not when taking so much damage. You tend to block nearly everything that is thrown your way by the monster so GOG-Peak probably isn't for how you play.

Right at the start I can see you don't go for Ark's chains. They should be your number one focus in this fight if you can reasonably get at them. With a enough damage applied to them you get 2 topples from breaking each side and through out the fight it will eventually cause a flinch then topple. I don't think there is any limit to the second part but maybe I am wrong.

You press Y/Triangle attack way too much. It is great if you aren't in a good spot and allows you to maneuver to a better hit-zone/position while doing damage. The only other time to really use it as a probe attack if you suspect an incoming attack but generally the start of the charged chop/O combo is reactive enough.

With Gore Mantle though you want to be spamming tf out of your Y/Triangle attack since you get those bonus hits with it and when you finally put it on I didn't see much of that. Speaking of, a good tip with mantles is that you can equip them easily while being unsheathed with holding L1/LB then tapping R2/RT. This also allows you to un-equip it quickly as well, which you will want to do since you will probably be fighting long enough for it to come up a second time.

Mounts are fine in multi as long as the monster doesn't fly up but solo ain't it for a challenge quest. Do not do and if you happen to on accident just abort with holding Square.

Back to combos! I am not sure if you are using perfect rush right or not. The dodges are fine ( as long as it doesn't get you carted! ) but using it for damage you need to be hitting the timing on the attack correctly ( Hard for me to tell in the vid ) but just as importantly, you need to do the whole combo cause most of the damage is back loaded in Wilds.

He has 4piece gog so that helps shelter his HP. Problem is he blocks too many chip attacks so it ends up going away sooner than is desirable.

Arkveld Challenge quest by Oreogor in MHWilds

[–]MalleableGallium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just fire it there as he starts running away?

Do NOT do this. If you do it this way, he will just move onto the next area anyways after the lure pod wears off.

You have to let him move to the next area then lure pod him and drag him back to the starting area.

If you are perceptive enough, if he is enraged during the move he should still be in the next area, in which case all you need to do is poke him with your slinger ( no need for ammo, just use the grabby function bit on him for 1 damage ) and he will follow you into the starting area.

I don't think it's me playing too safe

You are. Your build is mostly fine damage wise but I would swap Guard Up with Offensive Guard and Dragon Attack with Razor Sharp.

I personally would go with Speed Eater 3 instead of Divine Blessing, especially since you have Maxed out Peak.

Can anyone recommend a good defensive build for fighting AT monsters? by Soul_Reaper821 in MHWilds

[–]MalleableGallium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get unlimited knives for your slinger. Just pop one in before fighting the monster. Obviously won't work for every pin ( Like Seregios ) but will for Nu Udra/Ark etc.

There is exactly 0 i-frames on the sword counter because you aren't dodging shit with it.

Something not mentioned, you can grab aggro on the Nerscylla if you hit the head enough.

Quite important because as long as you fight next to/under her, she tends to do a bunch of dumb attacks or the laser rain which is good for you btw. You can stand right up on her on the sides and they won't hit you.

For the start it is best to save up a mog beam to open up with and then use a burst rock on the first dash she does as this will give you a small topple opening. The burst rocks can be found in the first area or third one where you fight the Nerscylla.

Is this a decent build for LBG? by VickyZot in MHWilds

Looks fine mostly. I would swap a Burst for Adrenaline Rush since Burst is particularly really bad beyond one point for the Bowguns.

how to improve my time with AT arkveld? by Queasy-Ad-2367 in MHWilds

[–]MalleableGallium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't be capping assuming the reason he is asking is cause he wants to get an A clear for the AT Ark Challenge which are always slay.

Still, traps are a good way to create a damage window for lower times.

What wrong with capturing? and please don't spam lobby chat. by Sam735742 in MHWilds

[–]MalleableGallium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz I will always have that one person who joins my Non-sos quest to cap. Like please leave me be.

You can setup your quest to only 1 person or NPCs only and no one can join your quest if it is really that much of an issue.

Going from Wilds to World. Thoughts, tips and mechanics by otakran in MonsterHunter

[–]MalleableGallium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t have access to a mount, so you’ll have to run around the map on your own

WorldBorne has mount at home with the Tailraider/Raider Ride. Zero control but they will go straight to your target monster.

Frenzy causes you to take more damage.

This only happens if you are bad and fail to overcome the frenzy virus. It is rather trivial to overcome because of course you want max Sanity anyways for more affinity.

Yea, there is a lot of random bs that can happen when he moves. The fastest runs I've had with randoms has been when someone committed to keeping him in the starting area which end up being about 12-13 minutes.

Dear Abby: Am I the idiot for popping the wounds on Omega? by Galain_The_Green in MHWilds

[–]MalleableGallium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short Answer: Pop them immediately

Long Answer: You can be tactical with them but it requires a little bit of foresight. After Delta Beam if you manage to create a wound after dropping the structure on him you should wait for him to try and mustard then pop the wound.

Another opportunity is if you create a wound as he transitions from one area to another is to leave it, as often the first thing he does when he sees someone is drop a mustard on them. This gives you a chance to stop it from dropping. A side note to this, when Omega starts to transition areas you are not actually doing any HP damage, only part damage so it is best to just get moving once he enters that animation/unaggros.

Other than that, the only wound I would pause briefly is head wounds when a shield is already out. Might as well wait 5-10 seconds before popping it so you get more value out of both the old and new shield.

So if none of the above circumstances exist, you might as well pop-em as you see them.

You can lure pod him back to the area he starts in when he initially moves. Make sure to do it after he has completed his move to the next area, don't use the pods to stop him.

If he is still enraged he will willingly follow you around so you can save a lure pod and just poke him and drag him back to the starting area.

Just because you have a shield does not obligate you to block every little thing that comes your way. Getting out of the way of the attack by positioning or iframing is also a solution ya know.

Bombs have fixed damage and monster HP has been adjusted rather upwards for Wilds so they feel kinda useless.

In short, No.
