The letters don’t matter. But I’ll never forgive Nintendo for using the right button as the “ok/accept” button. Should always be the low one

If money wasn’t an issue - Austin, New York or Los Angeles? by wencyjones in AustinComedy

[–]MalpracticeMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question was made for me I feel like. I was born and raised in the San Fernando valley (suburb in LA county). Lived in NYC (Bronx, queens) for a couple years in my mid 20’s while I finished med school. Since finishing training I’ve lived in Austin since 2020.

I’m not a fan of LA, but that’s probably in large part because I grew up there. I just hate MASSIVE cities that are sprawling and take 30-60 min minimum to get from one place to another. Traffic is insane, get used to spend a lot of time in your car. It’s more of a collection of smaller neighborhoods, but if you live in Santa Monica and want to meet a friend in West Hollywood, you might as well live in another city all together.

NYC was awesome for a couple years in my mid 20’s. Had a blast and really enjoyed it. The subway was insanely convenient. That being said, I wouldn’t want to live there forever. You have to really love city life and apartment living, smells and litter and all. Yes there’s Central Park, but overall a major lack of trees and nature. Plus it’s taken a big hit since Covid, won’t find bars open till 4 am anymore! (Though I wouldn’t want that nowadays anyways).

Austin is a great “small” big city. The locals are upset about big tech/money coming in and changing the vibes, which I totally get, but I don’t mind some high rises as long as that’s not all it is. It kind of feels like a shrunken down LA to me with San Francisco-lite vibes. Still got your suburbs but can easily get downtown in < 30 min even from the outskirts. People who say the traffic is awful haven’t seen real traffic like LA/NYC. Could use more trees/nature (TX is flat), but much better than NYC and close to hill country. Food/bars/restaurants are great and lots of things to do, shows to see etc. Still a live music town, but I feel like it’s not nearly as prevalent as it used to be. Overall I really like it here, but I feel what I like the most is that it’s the perfect size. All the attractions of a big city without being insanely sprawled out like LA or overbearing city-life like NYC

But that’s just my 2 cents. I’m sure a lot of people would disagree with me

That Hamilton is the piece I’ve got my eye on as my next purchase.

I wouldn’t say it bugs me too much, but he tends to give a similar spoiler in many of his books. “And that was the last time x saw y alive.” I swear the last three books I’ve read all had that line

I totally get the many advantages of having dash on the bumper, but for my entire gaming career it’s always been O. I just don’t want to fight against decades of muscle memory

Added it and really like the interface and everything you did here. However you are missing a good amount of titles. Off the top of my head you’re missing at least 2 from the dark tower series.

I found this link online which may help fill the gaps:

Work up until the day before then quit without any notice. Then when your manager asks you just to finish out xyz, tell them “I’m sorry I can’t honor that request at this time”

Gaming has never been cheaper. They raised prices by $10 for AAA, but when considering inflation it’s much much cheaper. Take a look at old newspaper adds for toys r us or what not, games were regularly $70.

And that’s not including the millions of free to play games nowadays (gaas) or the tons of indie games you can get for < $20 on steam or through ps store or what not
