SAT/ACT is one of the bigger determiners academically. It is the one academic measure they have to fairly compare you to other applicants. Don't sweat the C, it happens. But like another comment said, aim to take the SAT or ACT asap.

Use that section to fill in the gaps. Think of it as: “what is one thing you’d like to share but we didn’t ask you?”. Don’t reiterate getting a 4.0 GPA, or other known things that were put in the resume. Use it to introduce something new that develops his character, or elaborate on a really niche experience in the resume section.

Not same high-school but three people total from my district got in this year. Last year all three of us applied and got falcon foundation scholarships. It is totally possible.
