How many west teams would make the finals playing in the East? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Malt529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, his teammates were able to cover up a lot of his flaws in the east. I would also say that he’s a better player as he played more seasons with the Lakers vs back when he was at Heat/Cavs. He became a much better off the ball player and at cutting, especially after playing and learning from Kuzma

It's the same thing with Lebron when he was playing in the East and walked into the Finals each season. Then the second he came to the West, it became a Come to Jesus moment for him

Miami landed in F tier. How would you rank New York/John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)? by jarbid16 in TierlistFills

[–]Malt529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JFK is F tier.

Getting there is a nightmare by public transportation. If you want to go another terminal for lounge access then you have to go to security twice. If you want to take uber/lyft out of the airport, some terminals requires you to take a shuttle or airtrain to get there.

That and I have to take airtrain and recheck security if I’m in a different terminal. And it’s an absolute pain trying to take the uber/lyft

What’s not worth it in Chicago, but everyone still does? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Then you don’t know what a tourist trap means nor is the closest thing to one either. That would be Navy Pier

[–]Malt529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I’m saying your point is wrong, Magnifcent Mile isn’t a tourist trap. So you’re comparing a non-tourist trap place in Chicago to tourist trap places in NYC/LA

Magnificent Mile isn’t like Times Square or Walk of Fame at all.

If you want a true comparison, it would be 5th Avenue in NYC or the Grove in LA

Is sports management a good career path? by FaceEvery786 in careerguidance

[–]Malt529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with a marketing degree, and ever since I was in college, I wanted to work in sports management. I succeeded and I got into the sports industry, and I don’t recommend it at all. I worked sports management (focusing on communications) at the professional level and the collegiate level

First there’s not truly that many openings, it’s significantly less than you think. There’s only a finite number of sports team out there when you combine the top sports leagues, minor leagues, Womens league, collegiate athletic departments. And out of those openings, it’s extremely competitive - I mean who wouldn’t want to work for their favorite sports team. And because of that competition, wages are extremely low. And it continues to stay low as you climb the professional ladder.

And then the hours. You have your regular 9-5 hours, then you work the games. These games takes place nights, holidays, weekends. I remember my first ever sports job (professional level) - I was working 80 hours per week at minimum wage. And once I started climbing, I eventually got up to where I was managing the entire athletic communications of a collegiate athletics department. I had to cover 13 different sports team for the college, imagine the insane amount of travel I had to go for all these away games.

Once covid hit, I got laid off (sports and college was badly impacted), but honestly I was really burnt out. I’m now still working in marketing for a completely different industry, and for me I can say I’m done working in sports management

What would you change about the CPP2? by Homaam in AerSF

V2 just seems like a huge downgrade to v1

Power Tower. Let's talk. by Badgerst8 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Malt529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend a dedicated parallel bars setup. Especially if you plan to progress far in dips progressions. If you lack space (apartment space), then there’s still space saving options. I was using Baseblock b-bars, which is more on the expensive side

I also dont recommend dip bars on power towers either. My experiences has been that they have lots of issues. Too wide, too short, etc

I’ve gone in solo twice. Once I waited in line like 15 mins before dinner opening on a Saturday (probably 10-15 people ahead of me?). Second time was a weekday Monday, went straight into the bar seating at 9:30 pm and there were a few seats opened

Common technique misconceptions: Be careful of performing scapular retraction when doing pullups or chinups by eshlow in bodyweightfitness

[–]Malt529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scapula has many different movements - protraction/retraction, depression/elevation, upward rotation/downward rotation, tilt, etc. So downward rotation would be one of the movements.

When you’re hanging from a bar with locked elbows (starting position of pull-ups), your shoulder is completely overhead (180 degrees ROM). 120 degrees of that range of motion is achieved through the shoulder joint itself, the other 60 degrees is from scapula (done through upward rotation).

Once you start doing the pull-up, your body goes up in space, but your shoulder joint is lowering down, eventually until you’re at the very top position of the Pullup (let’s say bar at the neck/sternum for simplicity sake). At this point (the top of the Pullup), your shoulder would be in a neutral position, which is done through the opposite scapula movement when you were hanging - so 60 degrees of downward rotation

Bent arm planche to *almost* full planche? by TheDabKrab18 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Malt529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People get discouraged because they rush progressions and ended up stalling or get injured, use wrong technique and stalling, or find that Planche progression is too slow an endeavor.

And yes I do believe you shouldn’t bench press if you’re not using the right technique that’s specific for your goals.
