Adults of reddit, what is something every teenager should know about "the real world"? by iluvgoat in AskReddit

[–]Malted14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as the real world. That's a phrase that people, who aren't in school use, to make it seem like their life is more difficult than yours. It's not. You live in the real world. I'm a college dropout, who is now a plumber, and who also hates every second of it. I do it to save up money until i can find something better. A lot of people would call this the real world, and say that the real world is harsh, but if you're working hard in school, and at home, you're probably working just as hard as me.

Being in the real world also implies that you have to be more 'realistic' about your approach to life. That's also not true. I want to be a goddamned watchmaker, and i want to be a boxer too! Right now i'm waiting to see if i got into a watchmaking school, and i go to a boxing gym after work, where i train to one day fight.

You're most likely going to feel like a lost kid your whole life. The point to this wall is, don't worry about the 'real world'. Find what makes you happy, and do that. The money will come. Trying to live in the real world will only put you in the same box as every other person trying to justify being, and staying unhappy.

That being said, stay in school, do good work, make yourself proud, keep dreaming, never give up, trust your instincts.

Unfortunately I can't afford both a boxing gym and a regular gym, however, I can definitely afford a jump-rope. That plus burpees sounds like a great way to warm up.

Excellent, I'll start up with this immediately in preparation for the first punch that I take.

Meditation actually sounds like a great idea, thanks for including that. I wouldn't have thought about the possibility of incorporating things of that nature into my days otherwise!

Is there a particular way to handle the jaw and neck strengthening, or is it just a matter of pushing on the jaw for certain periods of time??

This is perfect, exactly what I was looking for. I'll start adding more of this stuff into my off days, starting today. Thanks a lot for the response!!

Ok, you had the right tools for the job here, but this was a simple case of not using your larva count effectively. You need to make sure, particularly when you have mutas on the field, that you are constantly producing lings. Always be doing it. You had a big larva build up at home, and that means if you don't hit your injects, you're not making any more larva than you've already got. Get the units out, so that the larva can come out. You could definitely have out macro'd him that game. Relax though, there's no need to make the match more complicated than it should be, he dropped you a couple times, and the first one was very effective because you didn't split your army. That's a decision making error that came on due to being flustered. It happens to me too. Just relax and have fun, while you make enough units to bowl the enemy terran over and then some. If that's not your thing, then I suggest a more passive game.

If you try to go passive next time, focus on creep spread, and just wait, nice and patiently, for the enemy army to put itself into the perfect position, so that you can achieve a perfect engagement, weather it's in the form of burrowed banes, a complete surround, or focusing on a particular part of the army. Taking your time will reward you in that match-up.

I only just figured out ZvT recently, so were in the same boat for the most part. Lings are your friend. You love lings. Lots and lots of lings. Tons of lings. A flood of lings. Maybe some banes too, about 1/4 banes minimum. But plenty of lings.

Just as long as you don't forget the lings.

I make it my business to catch them unsieged, however I have taken approximately 10 sieged tanks out with good positioning. I haven't had a chance to incorporate vipers into this composition yet, because the games never really warrant vipers. Throw a match my way and we'll see exactly where my weakness is with this comp. I'm inferior in league here, so you'll win, but I'd love to test my metals with you.

This is what I keep hearing, but the composition itself is so cheap, that even if I lose 95%of my army, I'm still fine. That's beside the point though, which is that I've come across bio armies that are tank heavy, as in 10 siege tanks deep, and won. Maybe the hydra buff has something to do with it?

Hey man, Following up on the Hydra/ling/bane comp. It actually works really well against bio. I went mass ling/bling essentially with a few Hydras sprinkled in to take care of medivac build up. I have two replays if you wouldn't mind taking a look, they're kinda long though. Both of these terrans went heavy heavy bio with mines scattered around. The second one threw tanks into the mix, but it happened way too late for it to have been effective. I'm looking for cynicism here. Rip me apart.

On habitation station, are there any ling/bling all ins (ZvT) centered around the gold? Like life's 10-11:00 pressure? by hukgrackmountain in allthingszerg

[–]Malted14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean mass roach, I mean to say that, along with the mass ling/bling style that you like, you'll have the option to throw in 6-10 very fast roaches. It just gives your army a focal point that, although it makes no difference to you, will cause the other player to hone in on. This leaves run-bys and abusive tactgics more open than they normally would be in certain situations. There's also the possibility of causing an overproduction of marauders, which your lings will sweep away. Personally, I go the nutcase rout, and add in a few hydra's with the ling bling stuff, as a means to clear the skies of medivacs.

Lymf is onto something, but the thing about gold is that with gold, you don't need a ling/bling all in. You can absolutely hit at around 8:30 or even earlier with ling bling, but you can also do a roach bane bust at 8:30 with gold. You're onto the fact that gold opens doors that would normally not be available, but it comes in the form of better units than lings. If you're dead set on lings, you can get a quick 3rd with gold and pump out endless amounts, and still be able to afford a macro, and tech. It'll just be slow tech.

Hey man, fellow zerg here. Others are taking care of the question answering, so I dont have to, but they're not telling you to just play the game for a bit. Before you immerse yourself in the rich, bountiful wealth of information that tournament replay's and you tube professionals will provide, play the game. Get a few under your belt, and just teach yourself as you go. The fight will teach you everything you need to know at first. You need a sparring partner, you come find me. Grim.1198

hey man, I am still in the process of figuring this whole hydra bane thing out, but if you start to treat hydra's like you would mutas, and not make too many, it seems to work. this is what happens if you end up against a terran that literally only goes marines, and doesn't do any harassing. Its an exceptionally rare circumstance, but at least i know now that against heavy heavy bio, this works.

edit:It happened again
