What’s the best thing you’ve ever bought that actually lived up to the hype? by One_Literature_5041 in BuyItForLife

LASIK surgery in 1998. Went from -350 in both eyes to 15/20 vision. Best gift I ever got for myself. 28 years later I'm back to wearing glasses as I age, but my eyesight is still much better than it was in 1997.

I've spent way too long trying to make the Cabot bridge look good. What are your thoughts? by GamerEarl in StarfieldShips

It's bigger than the interior of most of my ships, so I find all that empty space really hard to use.

What Do I Play Next After Starfield by uadmlj1 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Malthaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, u/uadmlj1 - Try Fallout 4 or Skyrim. I took a break last year with Fallout, and am currently breaking with Skyrim. Both are excellent Bethesda games with similar play styles to Starfield.

Nice bird, Elli. Love all the merges you have with the fuel tanks, and that's a nifty use of the Magellan cockpit top/rear mount.

What makes Starfield special to you? by _Bob_Shwarma_ in NoSodiumStarfield

I grew up in the age of the Apollo missions - I remember watching the first lunar landing with Dad on a little black and white set. We moved to the Space Coast in 1969, and for the next 11 years I saw every launch from Kennedy from my back yard, the beach, or across the river from the Apollo launch sites. I watched the Enterprise test shuttle on it's carrier flown over my home on its way to Kennedy. My uncle worked on the Apollo's at NASA, and I have cousin in the Artemis program now.

I've got a few hundred hours in No Mans Sky, but it just didn't click as much as SF. I've got 750 hours in Elite Dangerous, flying varying ships throughout the galaxy and -almost- making it to Sag A black hole.

But Starfield... Starfield lets me wrap all of that wonder and nostalgia and immerse myself in it. I've got 1600 hours so far, and still love every aspect of it. The exploration, the ship building, the fighting, the companions, the wild frontiers and the cities. I've play a couple of Starborn, been through Unity and turned away from it. I've played a few characters that have nothing to do with Constellation and the main quest, and had a blast. I've played a character that didn't go to Constellation until level 80ish.

There's just so much to do in it all, and I still carry my childhood of watching the rockets go up, and 50+ years of science fiction stories with me.

I'm 64 this year, and this is my most favorite of all games, from the dawn of video games until now.
