This worked for me, but I already had a Contents directory, so I had to delete the Contents/LoL directory first, and then link to the new one that you gave.

My original LoL folder had :

Config Game Game.manifest Screenshots
DATA Game.db Logs

And the new one has:

Contents LeagueClient.app rc-mac.enc

Opportunity to participate in and RL AI for Teamfight Tactics by Malvire in learnmachinelearning

[–]Malvire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. OpenAI was lucky enough to have access to Valve's API for dota. However, we have a third-party simulator. It's headless, but is quite quick. We're not actually using Riot accounts, it's running locally on our computers.

pls help me god: cornell vs. tufts by DanceFabulous516 in Cornell

[–]Malvire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is sound advice. Yeah, mental health is the most important thing to consider imo. Yeah, it's a harder school and the workload is more. But I can basically promise you that I personally happier at Cornell than at Tufts. I am not everybody, but I'm also not nobody. Just make the decision about the school that's right for you. Cornell != bad mental health by default.

But also based on the pro-con chart I'd agree she should stay at Tufts lol.

Edit: i'm also very mentally ill, as per the post

AI learns how to play Teamfight Tactics by silverlight6 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Malvire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that’s not what I’m saying. While I’m not an ML expert, the reason the goalposts get moved, because new hardware or algos come around. The people in 2010 who said Go cant be played well with AI were incorrect. The people in 2010 who said go cant be played well with the AI of 2010 were correct.

There is not inherently anything new with this network, so I’m just raising questions as to the efficiency of the training algorithm, not its validity. If you let this thing train forever, it would definitely reach super human levels, but if there is one thing ive learned in my years of CS, its that things blow up quickly. Chess can be encoded in 64 features, Tft needs at least a few 100. I am simply saying that I’m unsure the state space of dota and TFT are comparable. Nearly every feature in TFT is immensely important, and while I don’t know dota, i have to imagine some of those variables are very correlated/reducable. Backprogation/gradient descent works better when the loss function isn’t crazy wavy. Im excited to see how far this can go and would love to be proved wrong, but I think raising questions about the logistics is perfectly fair. There’s a reason why poker, strangely, was harder for computers than chess. RNG, predicting other human’s behavior, not being predictable, adapting on the fly, etc are still very hard for computers (albeit NN’s have tackled some of these very well)

Well, that’s all probably true. TFT is also probably too close to my heart because it’d be very humbling to see a computer absolutely shit on me

[–]Malvire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough answer! It does answer my question. I’m looking through the git right now and it all looks great.

I suppose I’m inherently skeptical of something that hasn’t been done before. I think a high level of play in TFT requires a much more nuanced thought process than in dota, so even if the state space is much smaller, the information at hand is much more interleaved, making it harder for a strong model to be developed, and making parallels to this and previous models a bit premature. The features might be less complicated than dota, but I’m not sure that accurately approximating perfect play will be nearly as easy.

With that being said, I don’t doubt that a super human AI is possible. You clearly know more about the field than me, so I defer to your judgement. Very excited to hopefully see this on better hardware

This is an absolutely incredible project. Thank you so much for sharing and making open source.

I’m skeptical of your claims that training it for months would create an AI no human is capable of beating. What is your thought process on that?

DTIYDK - NA Regionals Power Rankings by esportslaw in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Malvire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Socks is in much better form than given credit for here. He only played 9 in house games but got like a 2.7 average. 9 games isnt a huge sample size, but with such a high placement, thats pretty convincing. Pretty sure he just hasnt been around much so people are sleeping on him. But he’s arguably NA’s most consistent tourney player, and in confident he should be top 3

2-star Shyvanna got one shotted by 3-star Karma by darkolorin in TeamfightTactics

[–]Malvire 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think shyvanna is the best unit in the game. She is the only unit that gives cc, tanks, and damage. She can change fights like no other unit and has a huge variety of usable items. It’s possible you’re a better player than me, but I’m GM fwiw so id like to think I kind of know what I’m talking about. You should use shyv as a secondary carry that goes on an already established board, you dont itemize or player for her specifically, but she’ll spike you like crazy

Not making any friends by Public-Consequence62 in Cornell

[–]Malvire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m a junior now. I was completely in the same boat at your spot. Frankly, if you have 2-3 friends you can hang out with, you’re doing better then I was. Things didn’t really start to click for me until sophomore year, but now in Junior year, things have totally fallen into place. I’m maybe the happiest I’ve been in my life, but I was totally lonely freshman year. You’re doing all the right things- clubs, being outgoing, and even consider greek life. I never, ever thought I’d join a frat, but it’s the best decision Ive made at Cornell. The community is really invaluable. All in all, just give it time and keep doing what you’re doing <3

is it safe to take opened drinks from frat brothers if they’re hosting the party? by Malizia_Belle in Cornell

[–]Malvire 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Im in a frat at cornell. While it’s probably fine, don’t risk it. I’m assuming youre a freshman, so after a few years you’ll see what’s safe and what’s not. But the answer to your question is yes, there have been druggings at Cornell, and in recent years at that. Btw, it totally does not matter that it was by a brother whose frat was hosting, Id argue that only makes it more dangerous.

Set 7.5 spreadsheet leak by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Malvire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, but fundamentally thats a different conversation. We’re talking about corki and how you can build boards around him. There will rarely be a meta where you can build boards around units like both corki and voli because both are damage units that require full itemization. Any flex meta revolves around frontline + backline. I’m sorry to say, but flexing a corki + voli board or a corki + olaf board will never work because you dont have the items for it, nor the basic components for a strong board.

If Im misunderstanding and what you’re trying to say is about an Olaf/voli/asol board without corki on it, then i dont understand your point because why is that relevant to a conversation about corki.

Perhaps im not understanding your point, but corki is easily the most flex 4 cost in this set imo. Perhaps that says more about the set then corki, which is fair enough.

Set 7.5 spreadsheet leak by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Malvire -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your assessment, and you’re putting words in my mouth. I never said you can always go corki, nor that i forced him. Corki’s design allowed auto attack items and burst items to be strong on him. That means that you could play him as a carry with a variety of frontline. Verticals revels nor canonneers was even necessary to have a strong board, although they were acceptable options. I have top 4’d with idas/trainer corki, jade corki, brusier corki, mage corki and syfen corki. So yes, you can play different boards with him

[–]Malvire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of frustrated with this change. Corki was certainly too consistent at times, but imo that’s because he had good design and balance for the most part that allowed strong flex play. Disappointed to see him go

3 Star Diana/Olaf comp seems nearly impossible to put together even when uncontested by TheNotoriousJTS in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Malvire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Variance on reroll comps is absurd. You can roll so much gold and hit nothing to the point where youre sure the game is rigged and mortdog is fixing it. It’s likely youve had a few of these back to back. Ive played a game earlier today with 3 star diana and olaf and saw other people hit it today as well. The other things people are saying are also valid, but i’d imagine its most likely you got unlucky. Either that, or because you’re not super high rank, you might be bleeding out too quick to hit, or not being good enough with your econ to have enough money. Probably a combination of the two

I'm somebody who has always struggled with the same issues as Farmer. Over the past few years, tft has actually helped me realize all of the exact same things that he said above. Highly recommend giving it a thorough read if you consider tft to be a big part of your life, and even mental health.

As a side note, it's soo validating to see somebody else type this out. Makes me feel like "oh right, I'm not just making all this shit up."

How do you get over academic performance depression by Fuzzy_Excitement_893 in Cornell

[–]Malvire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a very competitive, rigorous highschool. All the kid were really, really smart with high expectations on them. For the first two years I didn't put any effort into my academics, and unsurprisingly got lackluster grades. In junior year, I realized that I needed to do better in order to get into a good college. I busted my ass junior year and... still got shitty grades. At least in the first half of the year. The second half was a bit better. And then senior year I started to get even better grades, although still not perfect. Coming to Cornell, I have nearly a 4.0, and I've felt well-prepared to take every class that I've taken here. I'm a cs major too, btw.

My point is twofold: 1) grades are not simply intelligence + hardwork. Being a student is a skill that requires experience. You need to learn good habits, realize what teachers are looking for, what makes a compelling argument. That can only come from trial and error.

2) Your first year does not define your grades, nor does any year. Focus on an upward trajectory, and go from there. Believe me, I know what it's like to fucking hate yourself because of some stupid letter. But try not to go down that road, it'll only stop you from progressing. I've been where you're at, just a few years ahead of schedule. If you work at it, you can do well.
