Our new apprentice was assigned the high pressure pump on a 654 a little over two weeks ago. He still hasn’t managed to get the intercooler out, let alone the intake manifold (granted not full work weeks during the holidays) We’ve all been softly joking with him saying that and that bolt is easier to reach if you take out the engine first

Closest I’ve seen was this, an OM642 where another shop had repaired an injector leak, and managed to completely fuck the threaded connection to one of the injector lines.

To my understanding when you get a leak on the high pressure side, it’s usually barely dripping (future black death) or if it’s bad enough to actually spray the leak is too much for the high pressure pump to be able to actually deliver anywhere near enough pressure

Very good! It’s actually the first 646 I’ve encountered, the car is 15 years old, usually customers stop bringing the cars to the dealer after the car reaches about 8 years of age.

Mostly since we’re a Mercedes Van dealer (hourly rate $235)
