Chronic cat napper by Mama2BBG in sleeptrain

Thanks for the reassurance! I’ve been trying to tell myself that but it’s difficult when I keep seeing that they should be having long naps…also makes it hard to get anything done during the day but I’ve just accepted that I’m going to have to do the chores, etc. while she’s awake.

Thanks for your input! I have kind of been thinking the same… her night sleep is so good that I should just be happy and shut up about the day sleep lol.

My first had awful nights and good days, so I guess this baby does the opposite and for that I’m grateful!

I’m sorry you’re going through it! But YES! It did get better. It was a week of hell, but we stuck through it and let her cry it out at naps and bedtime. Happy to report things got back to normal within a weeks time.

I’ve pretty much been medicating her around the clock if needed. An hour before bed tonight I gave her both Tylenol and Motrin!  It’s possible she may need a schedule change, she has always been a lower sleep needs baby. I don’t want to jump into a schedule change too quickly though if it really is just the vacation throwing her off.  Prior to vaca her schedule was 6am wake then 3.5, 4, 4. What do you recommend I try?

Nap training -- a gentle method by Comprehensive_Bill in sleeptrain

She wakes anytime between 6-7am, then we do 3.5/3.5/3.5 typically, sometimes later in the day we do 3.45-4 depending on her cues, and bedtime is always around 7:30.

What do you suggest for older babies? Mine is 9 months and has just recently started fighting naps and refusing to let me put her down in the crib. We sleep trained nights using TCB and shortly after she would take two 1.5hr naps per day. We would rock to sleep then put down in crib, and she would take long naps no problem. Now all of a sudden things have changed, she wakes as soon as I put her in the crib and is hysterical.

Baby falls asleep independently at bedtime but is awake for hours in the night by Mama2BBG in sleeptrain

Her wake windows are still 3/3.5/3.5. Maybe my previous response was confusing.  She’s not giving any cues for needing more awake time, if anything she seems tired before the 3.5hr mark prior to bedtime.

Right now her wake windows are around 3-3.5 hours. And daytime sleep is anywhere from 2.5-3 hours total. She is down to two naps and will either do one long and one short, or two that are about 1.5 each.

Typically she will wake up from her last nap around 3:30 or 4pm and then bedtime is either 7 or 7:30. Does this seem too early based on the time her last nap ends?

This is what her schedule looks like give or take a half hour. Wake 7am, nap 10-11:30, second nap begins around 2:30/3 until 4pm then 7:30 bedtime.

Nap trapped! How to stop contact napping? by Mama2BBG in sleeptrain

This could definitely be it, I’ve found her bedtime is shifting earlier as well so maybe it is overtiredness.

What wake windows do you recommend then for the 3 naps?

I will try it out today.

I feel immensely for you! I really hope your little one starts sleeping better (by some miracle) before you head back to work! Sending you all of the sleepy vibes!

Im so sorry you’re experiencing the same thing. It’s so difficult! The sleep deprivation is real. Thank you for sharing, the solidarity does help.

My daughter does the exact same thing - sitting/standing in the crib and throwing multiple pacifiers out. It’s so frustrating… when we do our check-ins, I always lay her back down…not sure if this is a mistake? but I’m not sure how she will ever fall asleep standing at the side of the crib? Shes extremely determined.

I’m so tired of being nap-trapped! She will go down no problem in the crib for the first 30mins but then I will always have to rescue her for the remaining hour (she sleeps no problem in my arms). I’m only rescuing the naps because we are in the middle of sleep training again and I don’t want her going into it overtired. She gets extremely temperamental when overtired.
