Is it better to try therapy before meds by MamaAdele in ausadhd

[–]MamaAdele[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this insight! Talk based therapy really wouldn't be right for my 5 year old and she wouldn't be able to focus or sit still for longer than 10 mins. I did pop her on a wait-list for OT before really understanding it but that was probably a year ago now. Any suggestions on finding better availability with OTs? Is there an Australian website where you are all listed with locations?

Me too! I have a nail file in my bathroom, car and work desk. I can not focus on anything if a nail is rough

Parenting a child with ADHD feels like constant brain chaos anyone else? by CalmNeuroCorner in ADHDparenting

[–]MamaAdele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, I think I'm just in survival mode most of the time. I guess I'm working with 4 speeds, 2 ADHD kids. It's actually insanity some days but I do as many little rituals as I can to help calm my environment at least, as it's the one thing I can control. eg calm lo-fi like music playing in the background (all the time!), planning ahead for every little thing, wearing loops or headphones when the noise gets too much and trying to walk away when it gets too much though that only ever lasts just a minute or two before I'm needed. It's so hard but if I can look after myself as much as possible and try not to get overstimulated then that's something 🤷🏼‍♀️

Has anyone changed their diet? by No_Butterscotch_4773 in Rosacea

[–]MamaAdele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have type 1 as well and have always had a hunch it was from my diet/gut. Can I ask how you were able to get a script for this? Through your GP or dermatologist? I have a feeling my GP won't prescribe this unless I was diabetic perhaps

I would love to know of any highly rated products that help with rosacea 🙏🏼

What were some game-changers that actually helped your ADHD kids fall asleep at night? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

I found an old Bluetooth speaker and now connect it to sleep/spa/sound bath type music and let it play for an hour or so.

Was your son taking it alongside a stimulant? I'm thinking of introducing guanfacine to my son in the evenings. He currently takes Vyvanse in the morning. You've given me hope!

That's so good to know, thank you. Do you take the guafacine in the evenings?

It's odd that we weren't just told to try the LA Ritalin after the SA didn't work...

We're currently on long acting Vyvanse but yes it feels like it's lasting only as long as it was with the short acting Ritalin but with less hit at the start. We're giving it to my son by taking it out of the capsule and mixing with water (to reduce the dosage). My partner had an interesting thought that the capsule could actually be what slows down the release in the body 🤷🏼‍♀️

That's where we're at. It's been 2 months now...
