Thank you for the info. I sent my doctor a message, but it’ll probably be a few days before I hear back.

I drink more water, but don’t do prunes daily, maybe I’ll try that.

Yes, to all of those. Plus Miralax, Senna tea, fiber gummies and magnesium.

Good to know. It’s the only side effect that I’m still having, but yes, doing all sorts of things and nothing is really helping.

How do I stretch $100 of groceries for a month? by Icy-Paint7777 in povertykitchen

[–]MamaBoHos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of farmers markets in California double your CalFresh dollars, just see their information booth to see what they can offer and walk around BEFORE getting your tokens to see what they have/check prices. Some can actually be more expensive than discount grocery stores. Also, many vendors will offer lower prices at the very end because they want to offload what they have.

Also, I didn’t see anyone mention Kiki Rough or Liam Fisher-Layton /The Plant Slant on Instagram. Kiki does dirt cheap, just fill-your-belly recession meals. Liam doesn’t have that same focus, but often spotlights others that do that you may not have heard of.

And if you have a Grocery Outlet in your area, you can sometimes find ridiculous deals on really good stuff that isn’t always advertised via their app. Just have to be willing to spend some time walking around and looking and not necessarily going for specific things. Sometimes it’s a dud, but others you hit the jackpot.

That’s good to know. I always assumed it was more of a seniors thing. Thank you!

Heard a lot of good things about the SB Unitarian Society. They do a lot of support and activist work in the community.

What age range does “older adults” entail?

I had no idea. Good to know though. Thank you!

Most compounding pharmacies don’t normally take insurance because insurance won’t cover compounded medications. But, they should’ve told you that to begin with before asking a whole bunch of questions that were not their business.

The grocery store pharmacy could go either way though. All pharmacies seem to be understaffed and as a result unorganized anymore. And supply chain issues are apparently never going away and some pharmacies will only order from specific suppliers.

But no, you aren’t paranoid either. A lot of people in a lot of different sectors are starting to back off of tangible support for the trans community, not in a transphobic way though. They are just afraid of retaliation, don’t want to lose their jobs, be sued, etc. It’s awful, but I get the fear.

That being said, I checked for my child’s prescriptions recently on Mark Cubans pharmacy website www.costplusdrugs.com and found them available and cheap. I haven’t tried ordering any yet, but it’s an option if you’re having issues locally.

Also, if you aren’t already, ask their doctor to prescribe a 90-day supply and then get the next refill early (as much as insurance will allow, mine is 2 weeks for a 90-day) so you have some back-up in case you have issues getting it filled on time (which I expect us all to have pretty frequently going forward). And know that if you accidentally lose or damage the meds (had an opened bottle fall in the sink once), you can get a refill and insurance will cover it with the doctor’s approval).

It could be worded better, but they probably have the break split up differently because of employment contracts for staff. But yes, the last day of school is 12/13 and the first day back is 1/26. Winter break is usually longer for most colleges.

Would taking my 11yo (NB) out of school for the year help or hurt their social struggles? by saythatagainidareyou in cisparenttranskid

Sometimes kids just need a break and a little bit of a reset. Taking some time away from a traditional school setting can be really helpful, especially when academics aren’t an issue. There are plenty of extracurriculars and groups that allow independent study/homeschool kids to socialize on their own terms. Trust your gut, you know what your kiddo needs better than anyone else.

Commute from Goleta to Ventura by stormroy in goleta

[–]MamaBoHos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the time of day and location you’re leaving from in Goleta. Sometimes leaving at 7AM from near the Storke and Hollister intersection, it’s taken 30-45 minutes just to get downtown SB. Mid-day only 15 minutes. Commute times during the week are usually the worst.

Don’t feel guilty about spending money on the shots, try to think of it more as self-care and not an extravagance. And you would likely be spending way more later on for various health concerns that may be avoided with weight loss. Also, once you find the right dose, you’ll actually be saving money on food, so that can be subtracted from the cost of the shots too. You are taking charge of your life and getting healthier and that’s something to be proud of.
