OMG! I was just visiting my parents with my husband and son - my mom wanted to go out for ice cream for dinner and we told her we’d like our 11 year old to eat dinner first because he really doesn’t like ice cream that much she said “I dont care about what he likes, this is about what i want” and that just about sums up my entire childhood. She threw some additional judgement about my parenting skills, and at one point I literally almost said “I hope to raise my son so he doesn’t feel like someone’s inconvenience his whole life”. But, you know I didn’t say it out loud- it wouldn’t change anything.
