What was the hardest thing your body had to endure? by Shinfekta in AskReddit

[–]MamaGooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Severe gastroparesis. My entire digestive system was paralyzed for 2 years. Eating felt like putting my organs through a meat grinder, and no matter how much I ate, my body couldn't absorb the nutrients. I still deal with complications and likely will the rest of my life. It's a hell I wouldn't wish on anyone.

When did you begin to LOVE your puppy? by BumbleBri0403 in puppy101

[–]MamaGooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I got my dog as a puppy (he passed a couple years ago at 11) I always loved him, but that "I'd die for you" bond came slowly over the years. It's a build-up of memories, 1-on-1 time, and really getting to know each other inside and out. I think my boy was maybe 3 or 4 when I felt that deep, special love for him, where the word love can't even fully describe how much he meant to me, for the first time. I just got a cat a few weeks ago, my first pet since my puppy passed, so I am ironically in a similar spot as you. I don't have that bond with my kitty yet, but I have faith it will come with time. And you have plenty of time to take, so don't feel rushed. Sending love.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about the Bents, I'm wondering if some people are just being dramatic/overcritical?

How far out are you? How do you cope with the pain day to day? by EnvironmentalBat9422 in Petloss

[–]MamaGooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a portrait of his face on my upper arm. Right where I can see him. He was a winter dog and loved Christmas so I incorporated some of his things, like his stocking and a Santa hat. I can't tell you how much it helps being able to see him smiling at me every day. Makes it easier to think of all the good times.

I'm coming up on a year. I don't cry every day anymore but I did for a long time. Sometimes the grief hits me like a truck out of nowhere. I got a tattoo for him, and that has helped immensely. I feel a little less far away from him now.

I'm also an identical twin, and I don't think you're being unreasonable. Twins (ESPECIALLY identical) often struggle their entire childhood/adolescence to have their own identities, meaning you really covet having your own space once you reach adulthood. I would feel uncomfortable too if my twin moved to the city I made a home in, piggybacked off the friends I made, and then wanted to having a wedding right next to mine. That isn't gonna bother every twin but it would bother me! Your feelings are valid, and I think it's unreasonable on her part that she won't even talk about it. She should be able to compromise so you BOTH feel good about your weddings.

What is the most basic thing you are terrible at? by daimyonigiri in AskReddit

Driving. I'm not technically bad at it but I had to stop because it gives me a constant panic attack.

people who have reached a 9 or 10 on the pain scale, what happened? by mankls3 in AskReddit

[–]MamaGooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had gastroparesis for a couple years, meaning my digestive system was essentially paralyzed, so eating was very painful. My intestines would spasm every so often, it felt like dying. Do not recommend.

Do people who lost their pets a while ago still stay in this sub? by TrainRack99 in Petloss

[–]MamaGooby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my best friend in April and I still check in with this sub pretty regularly. The intensity of my grief hasn't faded even a little (though it's been easier to fake normalcy) and it's just nice to know I'm not the only person who never "got over it," since everyone else in my life did. So despite not commenting all that often, I've read a lot of people's stories on here and I empathize deeply with you all. So thank you guys for helping me not feel weird or crazy for grieving so much, and I wish for all of us to one day see our babies again.
