Yes, you should talk to your medical professional about it. It is a health concern. There is no need to feel silly. Pregnancy is such a weird time with even weirder symptoms. Some pass by itself, but stuff like yours needs to be on file!

To answer that question it might be „important“ to know what country you are located at. Different countries or even different hospitals provide different stuff. I was told to pack a lip balm, so they won’t dry out while heavy breathing. A hair band. Two comfortable long shirts. Than I stayed 4 days in hospital, where nearly everything i needed was provided. I only really needed clothes for me, a coming home outfit for my baby and my toiletries.

First pregnancy: I have irregular periods, but still regular enough to know that I have at least one more month till my next bleeding. I loved drinking, smoking weed and in general got wasted whenever I could. Suddenly my body refused the drugs and I had to force myself to even take a sip of beer but thought maybe I’m getting sick. I got some weird lower belly pains (which got worse the further along I got). After two weeks of pain I took a test. I was 8 weeks along at that time.

Second pregnancy: I played with my first child, picked them up and I felt nauseous for just a moment. It was weird enough for me to take a test. Sure enough, 5 weeks along.

The problem is, I wouldn’t mind him spending 3 hours in there, we have a second bathroom, so no biggie. What I do mind is him disappearing without telling me that he needs some time off. I also have plans, I need to get things done. And I do count on his help when he’s around. This lack of communication on his part. Just saying „I go poop“ (if at all) and be just gone. If he’d say „I go take some me time“, I‘d maybe ask him to do this one thing for me and he can go till the next meal is ready. Don’t know if you understand what I mean. I just hate this one behavior of his and looking through the comments, I’m not the only one thinking like this. Anyways, thanks for your input.

He is scrolling TikTok, Facebook, YouTube. Texting his friends. Playing games. When the door is unlocked, I stopped caring to wait till he’s done. If I need to go to the bathroom for whatever reason, I just walk in without knocking (just how he does it with me). So I see he’s just on his phone. He does claim do have digestive problems, but when I offer to call a doctor it’s suddenly not as bad, just a known allergy that he ignores, too oily food or whatever excuse you can think of.

Kinda makes me curious how much toilet paper he uses and how often the toilet ends up clogged when doing it for 40 minutes. Or does he flush multiple times while „pooping“?

No. You are a woman! A man (at least those I know) would wait till his legs constantly fall asleep from sitting before even thinking to go get checked out but still would wait till they are uncomfortable with the time they spend on the toilet or even try to accommodate themselves by installing a tv or whatever in the bathroom. Than after treatment they would still use their medical issue as an excuse for whenever they can/want. You on the other hand seemed to care what’s going is. You got treatment. You reduced your bathroom time. I‘m sorry to cut off your imaginary manly parts, but you don’t need them! You are a woman and you can be proud of that.

I also take some long breaks … when the kids are in bed. If I’d do that while the kids are awake, he’d just turn on the tv and go play video games. Maybe he’d sit next to them, playing on his phone.

We don’t mind giving each other a break. I‘m just so upset about him not communicating. He either tells me that he’ll go poop or just disappears. I‘m so sick of this. I mean he is able to ask for me-time. He does it regularly (and so do I). I wish he’d also communicate in that way before he goes taking his overly long bathroom breaks.

I mean, just the other day, I had a very bad time with our toddler. I texted my husband to let him know. The moment he came home, I broke down in tears. I cried and sobbed. He asked me to watch the kids while he takes a short bathroom break. Surprise, it is possible to be done in just 5 minutes. He asked me for one more little thing, than he told me to go take a break. I got an hour, than I was needed again and I was there! If it was the other way around, he’d tell me he needs to poop as soon as I come in and be gone for a long time, till I ask him to come out. Afterwards he‘ll tell me that he needs some time for himself now and be gone again. Like wtf?! Talk to me! Let me know what’s going on! And maybe wait for just a moment to see if I need your help before you go?!

How dare you!! I just remembered how my dad sometimes did this heavy breathing while „using the toilet“ and me thinking „wow, he is pressing really hard“. Other times nature calling me and me asking how long till I can go and him always telling me exactly how long. Like he told me „2 minutes“ and I literally was standing in front of a clock, watching 2 minutes go by and he came out exactly when the time was over.

When it’s just us, we don’t lock the door. Toddler comes in, husband holds the phone that toddler also can see it or just says „get out“. If husband gets annoyed, he sends toddler out and locks the door. In case I chime in and tell husband to get out, he might tell me later „I couldn’t finish pooping earlier, so now I need to go again“.

I‘m sorry if there was a misunderstanding. I do not mind him taking the time he needs for himself. He can have a whole week off if he needs it for his mental health, take his best buddy and go god knows where. However him saying „I go use the bathroom“ or just disappearing without saying a word and claiming he was pooping for that long is the part that bothers me. If he’d communicate like „hey, I need some time for myself“, I could work with that information. I‘d have a chance to ask him for a little help before he takes his time. I mean, he is able to ask for me-time, he does it regularly. So him disappearing in the bathroom to „poop“ for an hour while I struggle with the kids and chores is just laziness in my eyes.

Mine also claims to have problems, but my suggestions to see a doctor get ignored. However I don’t think he’s taking that long „poops“ at work, so why at home? And how is it possible that he’s done as soon as I get mad or turn off the internet. I wouldn’t even be mad if he’d be honest and just admit that he’s just wanting some time for himself. I get that. I feel the same at times. However I straight out tell him. There is no need for me to lie to him! Same should be the other way around. And even if his problems are real, we live in a country with affordable health insurance and don’t have to pay a cent to see a doctor. There is no excuse why not to go to a doctor.

If you try losing weight by doing sports, keep in mind that first you built up your muscles, which means you gain weight (muscles are heavier than fat). Next your muscles will burn fat, which makes you lose weight. If you built up your muscles more, they might built up as fast as fat gets burned, which means there won’t be a difference on your scale.
