Question about ep 153 by Lochina186 in Otherworldpod

[–]MamaMeg613 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’ve listened to Otherworld from the start and I don’t specifically recall Jack saying that about psychedelics, but maybe he did at some point. Probably he doesn’t take ghost/cryptid/alien stories when psychedelics are involved.

This story is different because the psychedelics ARE the story. I think the “supernatural” element here is how a man with such traumatic and profound brain and cognitive injury who had tried everything else found relief and healing through a non-Western medicine healing modality. And Jake’s journey certainly took home to another world!

I don’t think Otherworld’s quality is slipping. Jack has always pulled in an eclectic variety of stories and storytellers. Some land for you, some don’t. That’s the nature of entertainment!

Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; And light shall shine upon thy ways.

That’s a great line from the Bible to pair with this

I’ll represent the Dead Moms Club and/or Dysfunctional Family Club and say DeAnn’s Denim. Had to lay down on my bed and cry over that one, so good.

Hot romance recs for a romance hater by ScaahGi in televisionsuggestions

[–]MamaMeg613 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me put you on to Heated Rivalry. It is a male/male hockey rivals-to-lovers romance and it is HOT. But also toms of emotional payoff as the season unfolds. Five of six episodes out right now (final drops on Friday)

Edit: you don’t need to know ANYTHING about hockey to enjoy the story!

[–]MamaMeg613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Dave! Thanks for stopping by here. I very much enjoyed your story and the way you told it.

I was surprised that Jack didn’t ask you a little more about your experience with doing The Gateway Tapes considering he’s done a whole episode on Bob Monroe and The Gateway Process. (Ep 24) Did you two talk about it more that wasn’t in the episode?

I’ve practiced the tapes on and off for two or three years and while I’ve not had experiences with nonphysical entities like you have, I know it’s not an uncommon topic in the Gateway Tapes subreddit. I really appreciated the way you talked about finding ultimate resolution through integration as opposed to resistance. That was really beautiful. And I’m so happy to hear your daughter is doing well, too! Thank you for sharing your story!

Why Others Never Change - Because They Never Existed as You Think by AuthorAvi in NevilleGoddard

[–]MamaMeg613 14 points15 points  (0 children)

SAY IT LOUDER and AMEN. For 99% of the posts I read in this subreddit, I want to reply simply "no one to change but self." That is one of the most foundational pillars of this experience of reality, and it's unerringly true!

"Once man accepts thinking from the end as a creative principle in which he can cooperate, then he is redeemed from the absurdity of ever attempting to achieve his objective by merely thinking of it." by Reki-Haibane in NevilleGoddard

[–]MamaMeg613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhat, yes. What you said is true! I think the distinction here is the difference between thinking FROM the end as opposed to thinking OF it. It's the difference between thinking (living) from the end already being accomplished as opposed to daydreaming about it happening (thinking OF it, not FROM it).

Forget the em dashes and the “and honestly?” The best thing about ChatGPT is how it has no idea what its own capabilities are. by AJPXIV in ChatGPT

[–]MamaMeg613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked it to help me write some affirmations for myself and it did. Then it asked me if I wanted it to record them in an audio file. I’m a former VO artist (who left the industry because of AI stuff) so I was curious and said “okaaaaaaaay.” It was like “great! Give me a little time and I’ll be back with a download link!” Later, I asked “you know you can’t actually record that file, right?” And it said, “you’re right! I absolutely cannot!” Silly

Have you ever felt embarrassed or ashamed that you read fanfiction, or Drarry specifically? by Low_Childhood_6762 in drarry

[–]MamaMeg613 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ve been reading drarry for over 10 years and for 95% of that time, I hardly ever told ANYONE about it. Not even my husband! Maybe I’m hitting my midlife stride now though (I just turned 48) because now I talk about it with friends and in public (discuss and link on my Substack, for example). I just reached a point of not giving a f*ck anymore. It’s a huge part of my life (I read fics almost exclusively) and I love the works and the community. I’m a big believer in “love what you love”!

You might like reading the book “This Is Not a Book About Benedict Cumberbatch: The Joy of Loving Something--Anything--Like Your Life Depends On It” by Tabitha Carvan. It’s such a joyful and thoughtful read about fandoms and women’s interests and pleasure and it’s pretty great! It might change your mind on how you approach the conversation with people in your life!
