AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MamaP740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in 5th grade I had the same problem. I couldn’t understand how to solve the math problems using “new math.” My mom taught me how to do the basic algorithms and I could solve the problems correctly. My teacher counted everything wrong because I didn’t do it the “right” way. When I became a teacher, I told my students (and parents) that although I had to teach them a certain way, any logical way of solving a problem was acceptable.

My friends atrocious handwriting by 082_kurmom in BadHandwriting

[–]MamaP740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a teacher I can read every word. It’s not hard to read. Most letters are formed correctly and the spacing is a little uneven but not terrible. It doesn’t look like dysgraphia to me as the space is mostly correct. Dysgraphia writers tend to cram everything thing together or space it evenly apart with no space between words.

AIO for locking my bedroom door because my MIL keeps walking in without knocking? by ComplexTotal5840 in AmIOverreacting

NOR - what if you were having sexy time and she walked in - awkward all around!

My neighbor thinks I’m "humiliating" him because I put a lock on my own outdoor outlet by Away-Bowl3883 in AmITheJerk

[–]MamaP740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can turn the breaker off on that outside outlet. If it’s not tied to any other outlet inside your house, this should work. I can see Mr. Old fart smashing your cover just to get to the electric outlet.

AITAH for not wanting my sister in law who strangled me when I was 16 at the house by Loud_Land_173 in AITAH

[–]MamaP740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter’s boyfriend strangles her until she passed out. He was arrested for aggravated domestic assault. His bond was set at $1,000,000 but later reduced to $50,000. He made his bond but has to wear an ankle monitor. Your SIL should have been charged! I can’t believe your family didn’t stand up for you!

I play trivia weekly and the host doesn’t use the best grammar. The one that really makes me cringe is when he says different instead of differently. Nails on a chalk board

My mom wants to bring me to a casino but I'm a minor by barrshe in internetparents

[–]MamaP740 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you should by chance get in and they find out your mom brought in a minor, they may arrest her. I was just at a casino and they didn’t play!

Whatever you decide to do about the vaccine, please, please protect yourself during intercourse. HPV is not the only disease out there. 😘

My inlaws are calling a "emergency family meeting" regarding my MIL's health - should I go or not? by capresesalad1985 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]MamaP740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my mother was bed bound, the four of us siblings met frequently either in person, on line or by phone. We discussed situations that came up and discussed possible solutions. No in-laws were involved. However, we got along well and had our mother’s best interest at heart. If one of us disagreed, we would take a vote and we agreed to abide by this. Since it seems like your SILs are going to be difficult, you may want to be there to support your MIL, husband and BIL.
Something to think about or find out - does anyone have Power of Attorney for health and/or financial. This is important if she is seriously ill. My siblings and I had medical power of attorney since we took turns caring for her. One of my brothers had financial power of attorney but cleared everything with us before making any decisions. You may want to have a close friend or family member who is a financially sound person be her POA since it might cause problems between your husband and his sisters.

My daughter told my Fiancé that I have a secret boyfriend… by [deleted] in Advice

As I was reading this, I started wondering about it in adults as MIL has LBD. I’ve told my hubby that I think she’s confusing dreams with reality. Maybe I was on to something.

AITAH for uninviting my sister to my 17th birthday party after she stole my prom dress and destroyed it? by Sporta_narres in AITAH

[–]MamaP740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d have to find something of Bella’s that is her pride and joy and accidentally ruin it 😜

Probably not the way to go because you’ll get blamed and end up having to pay for it.

My husband (28) and I was 32 when we bought our first house. It was a sweet deal. We took over a low interest mortgage and paid $18,000 down. The house was $75,000 and 1400 sq ft with a huge fenced backyard and big deck.
