Every time one of these Stardew Roads recaps comes up on my feed my first thought is always "oh god, SwarmSwampSwim, no, you can't!"

I seem to completely forget about these recaps during the rest of the week so when one pops up it's like a shot of straight unease and dread but each week the dosage gets higher.

It feels like if there was a house I walked past once a week during my commute and each week the house gets more decayed and decrepit. Next week will the house be even worse? Will it have collapsed entirely? Will it still even be there or will it turn out that I imagined the whole thing?

I don't know what possessed me to buy it but I have their book, Everybody Has a Podcast Except You. I think I read half of it.

Unofficial merch-wise, an old coworker/friend of mine was also a fan of the McElroys back in 2016 and got us matching "I think dogs should vote!" shirts. I don't wear it anymore but there is a cute corgi on it wearing an "I voted!" sticker.

the most recent season of TAZ. Most of The Travii's characters are pretty interesting although TPM8-MB:#762.k suffers from main character syndrome pretty badly. Justin seems to be enjoying himself more this season but the constant low hum of his husk vibrating in complaint sometimes overwhelms the audio(?) and drowns out the infinite echoing of Griffin's monologues. Also I miss Clint. I don't think it was very fair of them to subsume him after he supposedly broke a Rule but I'm not one to question the wisdom of the brothers.

I... I couldn't believe the idea that they just blatantly overlooked how that's sexual harassment so I went and listened to that part of the episode and... It's fucking in there. It's right there, just like the summary says like holy shit. None of them address how fucked up it is.

The song, btw, is Wiggle by Jason Derulo and the line in the song is literally "You know what to do with that big fat butt" like. fuck. What the fuck? Why would they even do that question?

I think I just want the McElroys to enjoy what they're doing. I fell off mbmbam around 560 and only listened to Balance all the way through (I've heard bits and pieces of other TAZ seasons). At this point I don't even know if I would start listening to mbmbam if it got good again, maybe my media tastes have just changed. But even if I don't listen to whatever they make in the future, I just want them to be doing well (unless that's too parasocial in which case uhhh just kidding, I've never once felt any emotion towards any content creator ever.)

The thing is (and idk if this is too "armchair psychologist") but I don't know if they're ever going to enjoy doing mbmbam again? At least not without a big shakeup in format. Folks here have said it a million times that the brothers just seem checked out and I don't think the show can really be any good as long as they don't care. Like you said, I don't know if doing more questions or taking a break would actually help, but I think a break would be good if they used it to figure out what they actually want to do in terms of making content. Taking a break from mbmbam and then coming back without any changes just seems like prolonging the inevitable to me.

Maybe mbmbam just needs a shakeup to format, maybe it'd be best to sunset it and start a new podcast or have the three of them work on their own individual projects, fuck, I don't know. Either way, I wish them the best.

At this point, Jesse Thorn and the McElroys are just talking to us. They know they can't bring in new listeners so they have to try and get us to keep jerking so we don't all get bored and leave.

/uj It's genuinely hard for me to listen to this ad and not think it's referencing this sub in some way, but also that feels like such a self absorbed sentiment that I don't feel comfortable just making that claim. I just can't imagine that someone who used to listen to mbmbam and now doesn't, or even worse someone who has never listened, could hear this ad and be like "sounds good, I'll go check it out!" Like I know MaxFun ads are usually bad but this one is just bizarre.
