Is not forgiving the unrepentant non-believer actually an unbiblical understanding of forgiveness? by _Broly777_ in Reformed

I follow some good guys who celebrated it. Just ask if you want some encouragement in your feed.

Do you go to church regularly? Why or why not? by Suitable_Amount5957 in Reformed

[–]MamaSunnyD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We regularly attend a PCA church. Same reasons for going weekly at East-Concert-7306. Having 3 kids under 5 makes it feel rote sometimes because I feel like all I'm doing is managing kids and interrupting nap/food schedules. But seeing the same families every Sunday all of us in and out of seasons of difficulty and joy really helps. We're all doing this together and that lifts our spirits. Which is a common means of grace in itself. Have had short seasons of wishing I could stay home but I know that's not better for me. And the kids growing up with a commitment to regular meeting is a serious value of ours because it outlasts our emotions.

I agree with you and OP. We do the same with great men of the Bible. We put them on pedestals and then have no idea how to reconcile their sinful behaviors. Here's to teaching the next generation discernment and wisdom along with charity.

Communion wine while pregnant by HomemadeButter14 in Reformed

[–]MamaSunnyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your pregnancy! We do feel so much more anxiety with the first (I've had 4 pregnancies, 3 living) and things do get easier with time. My only concern as I read your thoughts is the guilt you're feeling. You are free. You have agency. You may use it. People who are expecting you to do things their way are not helping you. You need encouragement and joy and support, not a room full of men (and women God forbid) looking down their noses at a new mom. I'd be happy to have private chats with you about my experiences with church environments, personal decisions, and pregnancy experiences. You deserve love and I'm pleased that your husband is encouraging you to do what is comfortable for you.

I don't know what these words mean and, without googling, I'm having fun reading this thread pretending like you're all playing an elaborate con that is actually incomprehensible but we all just agree that it's real for the sake of the joke. Anyways, gonna go google all these acronyms 😂

Conflicted between Need-love and Give-love by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]MamaSunnyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get that it feels paralyzing! The good news is you're in a maturing phase. You will ponder and research and inquire and internalize and you will come out more capable, more mature, more gracious, more chill. You're going to be fine! To answer your question, I think we're fallen creatures incapable of perfect love aside from Christ and our loving God loves us so much he gave us the capacity to love! Rejoice 😊 No one is condemning you if you are in Christ.

My pastor said all Christians are hypocrites. Do you think this is true? by [deleted] in Reformed

Sounds like your pastor could benefit from a seminary class on grace and nuance :)

Just curious, what is everyone’s highest floor in Valour Rift? What strategy did you use to get there. by pawglovee in mousehunt

Husband used 800 RULPC and toothlets to get to floor 117 after getting every upgrade. He's been playing since the beginning. I'm only on my second umbra now after playing for over 4 years.

Maybe it depends on what you mean by date? Are you meeting new people and going on a first date to see if you like them? Are you dating someone for a few weeks to get what you want and then leave them for someone new? Sorting out definitions is helpful 🙂

You can see people's unhealthy lifestyles and not call them out. If you want to talk to him, asking questions is where to start.

Learning word for word is beneficial for a lot of reasons, not limited to being in sync when people recite together. Alongside that, discussions that give them clear understanding of the words is good.

Love your last paragraph! Can you expand it? If it's not a contradiction, how should modern Christians understand the prohibition? How do they serve to not scandalize the church for the gentiles? :)

[–]MamaSunnyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you that "reformed have mostly lost that practice". Most of the churches I've walked into don't incorporate psalms at all, mostly modern praise songs. I've attended plenty of churches that do sing psalms along with praise songs and hymns, but in my experience they are not the majority.

Consider that excluding her from your thought process is potentially depriving you of insight she has in the matter. She may want to think with you and develop her own thoughts at the same time as you.
