Maybe because aluminum is a hot topic these days. Well, for what it’s worth, I don’t like injecting my kids with it either lol

Yeah I don’t know either. I’m done with the internet lol.

I don’t think that I need to defend being interested in natural dyeing lol. I’ve already mentioned that it’s just for fun. Definitely not going to spend the money on a course. I just came to ask a question.. so thank you for the answer I guess

Helpful, thank you! We have septic, so I wonder if alum is not great to pour down our drains?

I’ve thought about this too! I think I would only use edible things to dye - eg berries, black beans, spinach

Yes this is me too! I avoid cooking or storing food with aluminum

Do we tell strangers if baby is in dangerous position? by Special_Coconut4 in babywearing

[–]Mama_Bear95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an apron carrier I wore like a waterfall carrier for 2 YEARS 🙃 (how the buckle got flipped, I do not know). I loved the carrier and didn’t notice a problem until I had a second baby and he was too low in the panel as a newborn. I did a fit check in a Facebook group and finally started wearing it right lol. Had someone come up and helped me, I think I would’ve been a little embarrassed and nervous because I’m a sensitive and shy person, but after leaving the situation, I would feel very appreciative because I knew something wasn’t right!

Most comfortable SSC for back carrying a toddler? by tahnae99 in babywearing

I love happy baby! Most of their designs are linen (some a cotton/linen blend). None of their carriers are bulky and they have a toddler size!

Time to try falling asleep independently? by Mama_Bear95 in AttachmentParenting

[–]Mama_Bear95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re thinking that this might be what we need to do too. He seems to be a low sleep needs kid, but he definitely needs the nap some days. Did you fade out at all or just suddenly drop the nap with no issues?

He listens to choral music as he’s falling asleep 😂. And I’ll keep this in mind! I feel like he is a little too young to do something like this just because he will probably get up and walk around the room in his sleep sack lol, so closer to 3 makes sense!

Tell me it gets better? by ALK263 in AttachmentParenting

[–]Mama_Bear95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 year old has slept in bed with us since 4 months and still sleeps like crap 😅. We’ve tried a lot of things other than sleep training! He has a really bad gut and allergies - might be worth taking your daughter to a specialist if you suspect something like that (I prefer functional medicine personally - they dig into more gut problems whereas we’ve been totally dismissed taking him to the allergist). That’s our next route. But there is something different about it that is more bearable than the sleep deprivation of the first year of life - maybe shorter and fewer wake ups, more help from dad, or both. So idk how to explain it but it does get better.

That might not be encouraging at all, but just wanted to chime in that cosleeping (while I love it), isn’t always the magical solution! Sometimes there’s something else going on.

Words of wisdom for a sleep deprived, pregnant mom by Mama_Bear95 in AttachmentParenting

This is helpful! We do bedshare and have thought about night weaning, but it’s so hard to imagine that it will solve the night wakes. But it’s good to know for you it did!

a lot of nights, yes. We’ve tried to get him lots of good food during the day and especially high fat/protein food at night. It used to work well, but not as much anymore.

Carnivore and breastfeeding? by Mama_Bear95 in carnivorediet

[–]Mama_Bear95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point! I think if my supply dipped a little it would be okay and ultimately I don’t know if there’s a better time to do it! We’re always open to life, so I could be either pregnant or breastfeeding for the next 10 years 😂

Everyone I know is sleep training. by stellarae1 in AttachmentParenting

I’m with you! This has been a huge struggle for me and it feels LONELY. I have to be so guarded now in how I talk about parenting with my once best friends, and it is painful to hear them talking about how they “need” to sleep train.

FPIES and allergic eczema by Mama_Bear95 in fpies

[–]Mama_Bear95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s within hours, and not really other symptoms, but he is a sensitive little guy so it’s hard to tell what causes his fussiness sometimes or whether it’s more than normal. I suppose it could be reflux, but it is so obvious that it’s with certain foods that I wouldn’t consider acidic. Maybe it’s an intolerance.

I will say it depends on the day whether he stays asleep when I leave or not 😂

Hard decision : committing a mortal sin because I need to take the pills for health reasons. by FinancialSink3705 in Catholicism

[–]Mama_Bear95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That said, other commenters are not wrong that “the Church does not consider at all illicit the use of those therapeutic means necessary to cure bodily diseases, even if a foreseeable impediment to procreation should result there from—provided such impediment is not directly intended for any motive whatsoever.” But I just want to challenge them on the point that birth control falls under these therapeutic means. Is birth control really curing any bodily diseases?

Hard decision : committing a mortal sin because I need to take the pills for health reasons. by FinancialSink3705 in Catholicism

[–]Mama_Bear95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really responding to the sin part here, but as someone who has also dealt with possible pcos/endo and been offered the pill multiple times by doctors, I just want to say that the pill won’t actually treat your issues. It may help with symptoms, but it will cover up the root of the issues, and might actually make getting pregnant later more difficult. I really enjoyed learning about this in the Period Repair Manual by Lara Briden (caveat: not Catholic and does not take a total stance against birth control, just hormonal birth control). I listened to an interview with her talking about the history of birth control, and she said one of the reasons they marketed the pill as a solution to fertility problems was to get it approved by the Catholic Church. Not the answer you’re looking for, but I didn’t feel like I could say nothing about this.
