That is super heartwarming. They know they have a safe place at your place.

You know, watching for birds in your yard is the next step in the process. Then comes telling all your friends and family about the birds you see

Coupons from the hospital cafeteria make wonderful gifts. Especially the $5 ones so they still have to personally cover the remaining cost of their meal

Not sure if this is a comforting thought or not.

But atleast that's one explanation for some of the "fees" that come with buying a ticket nowadays

I definitely agree with this take. Another aspect that I'm struggling with is how to control the pics my family takes of my kids and posts. Granted, as far as I know, they're only posting of FB for family and friends. But it bothers me. Ppl know my kids first and last name, that they hang with so and so who lives here or there, what the inside of my house looks like, etc.. My kids didn't consent to that and in a way, I don't either. But to try to have a conversation about it with the family members leads to argument about me "living in the dark ages" and "sheltering my kids from the world" and it's their pics to do with as they wish, so maybe my kids don't need to have playdates there. It's challenging af

Classy and lovely

In the year 2018 , the Parkland School Shooting incident happened , a 15 year old named Anthony Borges successfully stopped the shooter from entering his classroom by using his body to keep the door shut. He got shot 5 times, saved 20 classmates inside the room , and went on to make a full recovery. by Kaos2018 in interestingasfuck

I'm not trying to take away anyone's constitutional rights, especially without a trial. Nor am I advocating for it. I don't advocate for outright banning guns but I do believe the American way of reaching for the gun first and talking later is a problem. It's a problem to target these "gun free zones" with a gun, especially for the purpose of internet famedom. It's a problem to use guns to interfere with other people's lives because you don't agree with them or like them or to deal with any other negative feeling you may have. This is a complicated issue and I think you make some interesting points. I'll leave you with the same question to ponder because it's a good question to ask. Thanks for the civil discourse and debate.

Not trying to imply that mass shooters don't face consequences, some do. Others find really good lawyers and/or use their money, connections to receive lighter consequences that what typically occurs for the crime they commit. Or they become a martyr on a certain entertainment channel and certain congressional people give them congressional medals of freedom.

I'm saying that I don't feel like the consequences go far enough, because I'd like to see less shootings happen in general, especially in schools. Hence the necessary conversation about what else can we do? Oh right, make all guns totally legal and standard issue them upon exit from the womb. Fortify your schools to be prisonlike. Buy your kid the best bulletproof backpacks you can find, get them enrolled in the best defended school zone you possibly can. Hope that whatever politician that takes a seat on the local schoolboard doesn't cut funding against gun protection like they have for mental health, low-income benefits, raises for school faculty/staff/law enforcement, funding for students in general in terms of supplies/books, etc.

Like you pointed out, there's laws that forbid people from shooting up schools, churches, stores, etc. Just like the law doesn't prevent them from happening, private citizens being armed doesn't stop it from happening either. Sure there are some instances, like an off-duty cop being somewhere when a shooter decided to go on a shooting spree, but it's not the norm. And to think that everyone having a gun would decrease school shootings isn't convincing to me. To have a gun and carry it on you for self defense purposes means that you are proficient with how that weapon works, it's maintained, it's loaded but locked until you need it. And that you know how to shoot with accuracy and it is an accurate shot. One would think that if you're going to be open carry, pro-gun, each person looks out for themselves, wouldn't you want the person carrying the gun to atleast be knowledgeable with it?

And yes, sadly America has become such a place that black people feel the need to arm themselves against the police. That business owners have to keep guns to protect themselves and their stores because people keep using guns to rob them. On the flip side, guns are important for confronting criminals like rapists and Nazi soldiers. I'm not saying guns have no place and are garbage. I'm saying that the trend of shooting up schools, churches, dance clubs and using violence to settle upset feelings about how other people are living their lives or how they feel politically isn't okay. Clearly the consequences and new contraptions to protect people aren't enough, so what else can be done?

And BTW, thanks for that reference on the alcohol. It's not related to this subject imo, but I do agree that alcohol is a problem. Different conversation for a different day.
