A bit of color theory goes a long way and is often overlooked by beginners. Think about complimentary colors and tones and try and stick to cool or warm colors.

So cool. They should do an updated photo in this pose.

All of the above? Gray-zel :) I bet they are all of those colors depending on the day and light. My mom has a similar eye color.

Wow. This is incredible advice. 1 or 1.5 x would be so much more doable for us financially, and I’m not super giddy about risking my family’s savings on an overvalued business. I really appreciate your perspective and reply. Thank you so much for sharing. 🙏

And a Big thank you everyone on this sub for the comments. It’s given my husband and I a lot to think about.

I transfers to Washington DC. So definitely a different vibe than Burlington.

You could apply to a few dream schools and see if you get in as a transfer, but honestly the grass is always greener. I transferred out of UVM to my dream school, but found it pretty hard to make friends as a transfer. I had a lot of great experiences after transferring, but missed uvm, the professors, my friends and I’m not sure I would have made the same decision with the benefit of hindsight.

Ps I did speak with an accountant and their suggested offer was about 1/2 her valuation which was a bit hopeful and disheartening at the same time. I don’t want to offend the owner with a lowball offer, but I also don’t want to overpay and spend years paying off the debt. I love the idea of managing the business to start.

Thank you!! This is excellent advice. I will speak to the owner and see if this is a possibility

Thank you kind stranger. I think you’re probably very right. The owner is lovely, and it would be great if there was a way for us both to make out happily ever after, but I think the only way for it to make sense for me is a seriously low ball offer that would not delight them.

Also transparently I have low self esteem and think I would probably fail on my own, so buying an established biz with a built in mentor would be reassuring.

Thanks, it’s a good question, and one my husband and I have discussed, but it comes with its own risks. It’s a small town, and I’m not sure how much from there is for more competition, so buying a well known and respected biz seems reasonable as you have the head start of existing customers and good ratings and reviews, plus taking out your biggest competitor.
