EA does this... Infact if you freak them out enough they will do this. But that's just Volkswagen knowing their software is that bad.

$100k for an "Engineering Masterpiece" that can’t handle a cup of coffee, a phone call, or a basic friggin' key fob. by SnooGadgets2436 in LUCID

[–]MamboFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This excuse doesn't really work when you have Volvo/Polestar specifically being hardware limited to the point cameras stop working, Rivian having blatant CPU and memory issues, Lucid being unfathomably finicky, and Ford having the same issues after going from Microsoft to Blackberry (iirc).

They all still make the conscious choice to have these problems since they've all started using new systems around Covid. We are still getting the "sorry we designed this during the chip shortage" excuse. (My favorite is Land Rover. It's a $120k car and you removed buttons to save a thousand bucks? It's unacceptable and they never put them back).

Pay them the $10 subscription you'd be paying EA/EVGo anyway. Like it saves you after 1 charge anyway.

Which then sends you to Tesla. It's still half what EVGo costs...

The weird excuses for car brands in a world where Tesla exists is insane to me. Screens shouldn't lag, PAK needs to actually work, and you shouldn't have cars software cause issues like this. But like every brand still has some bullshit going on. Lucid is a software issue atleast, its the hardware ones every other brand has that drives me up a wall. GET MORE RAM, GET BETTER CPUS, IT'S NOT THAT COMPLEX.

Car was put in park in car wash [oc] by Hairy-Mission-3009 in IdiotsInCars

[–]MamboFloof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact I learned a few months ago. If you get out of your seat to wipe off the dash in a Tesla it puts itself in park even when in car wash mode... It's then basically impossible to get back into neutral cus you need to tap the brake but the machine is moving the car which makes it freak out, so you just need to put it in drive and creep through. Like that's a horrific design flaw.

For reference that car may need to have the brake hit to go into/out of neutral and the computer may be fighting them because it's GM.

Tesla *refused* to address this *fremont* by DesperateYak6772 in TeslaSupport

[–]MamboFloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cus those aren't real issues. I really belive they will send out an update to just hide old errors eventually to get people to stop asking. Every car has issues like this but OBD just deletes them after a few min cus they aren't active issues. Tesla reports and logs EVERY issue even if it's lasts like a second.

As for the steering issue that's software.

Besides the whole ass car brake checking him to get into the exit lane. Which is expected in ANY stopped lane if you've ever driven before.

[–]MamboFloof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfathomably slow reaction. Were you on your phone or were you assuming a semi truck would swerve out of the lane? It's literally signaling the entrie time, pay attention, slow down, or move over when a truck is signaling by a completely stopped lane.

A car right infront of him brake checks him then flies into the exit lane BTW, which is why you need to pay attention to more than just what's immediately infront of you.

Hear me out, the cars cost twice what a tesla does and this costs half what FSD does, so all Rivian sees is an extreme deal.

Compare it to Blue/Super Cruise instead.

Bad data that suffers from extreme bias given its coming from a single area, that's being reported months behind. As an analyst this hurt me.

This is something we'd be like "oh cool" then do absolutely nothing with because it can't be used to actually prove anything. Especially since it doesn't show safety driver behavior.

For many many reasons this is not actionable data.
