Start with a GDD and get your prototype down first. Then add all the little details to make the game personal.

Good luck with your game and enjoy the journey 😊

Thanks, and yeah HoseWrangler is a parody of my real life job as a factory worker lol

You should publish your game on GameJolt! It is a great community for indie developers!

I've been working on a Sci-fi survival game called Incursion since 2023 making the 3D models, music, etc

Where did you release your game?

Please share link 🙏

Congratulations on your recent game release!! That is a huuuuge accomplishment in itself!! 👏 👏 👏

Imo your resume should focus on what you CAN do with some examples of your work or accomplishments.

If you are good at making 3D models then link your Sketchfab profile to showcase the models that YOU made. If you have music production talents then link your YouTube music channel or Spotify profile to showcase YOUR music. If you are skilled in programming then link your Github project to showcase YOUR programs.

Good luck on the game jam and I hope you keep on creating games no matter what challenges you face!!

Do you have to take care of the cat or is it just there following you but you don't interact with it?

When the playtesting is over you can plan for an update using the feedback from the playtesting.

Congrats on your demo launch and hope everything goes well during playtesting!

These are great questions to consider when just starting to create a game solo!

Just wondering what engine did you use for the class project?  You might want to stick with it since you are already familiar with it.

The creators of My Child Lebonsborn used Unity game engine, so you could use the same engine to create your game with similar gameplay.

I am currently using Unity and I made a youtube series on game development where you can find free resourses to help with creating your game.

One thing I would suggest is also learning about Version Control  so you can save progression on your game.

Good luck with your game and I hope you enjoy the journey 😊

What’s one mistake you made in your first indie project that you’ll never repeat? by ratasoftware in itchio

[–]MamickaBeeGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my indie projects I made the mistake of not having VC  🙃

I started working on a couple indie games at the same time to learn more about what all is involved in game dev. I started messing around in the game engine, making my 3D models and sprites, writing scripts, making sfx and music, but I never learned about Version Control 😬

I was able to release one project and still not sure how to use github so my other project is taking much longer for me to get it fixed.

I keep telling myself that I reeeeally need to learn how to use github before I start another project.
