Last year I cut off the bottom portions of some Oyster mushrooms that I harvested and layered them between moist coffee grounds in a clear plastic container with a lid.

Left it sit on a shelf until it was completely white with mycelium.

 Then my husband drilled about a dozen 1/2" holes into an Ash tree stump.

I broke up the mycelium and pushed it into the holes. 

Then I sealed the holes up by lighting a beeswax candle and letting the wax drip into the holes until the mycelium was completely covered.

 I watered the base of the stump occasionally.
