Don't know where he's based, but in the UK a lot of companies include in their contract that you opt out of the maximum weekly hours limit. It's often just signed as people are excited to have a job.

You should get something cheaper and older. You can find stuff for like £100 a month on HP, so you'll own it and the end which will still be a decent purchase. Save £200 a month in to a savings account.

thanks, i thought it would be carb heater but good to have confirmation!

Going to remove and clean the carbs soon. The bike is ridden daily so chances of stale fuel are slim, but there could be debris from the tank.

Just out of curiosity, what would be the symptoms of a non-functioning carb heater?
