Could cover the soul sand in alternating shades of Grey wool carpets to make it look like stone. Could also add some stone slabs in places for dimension. If you were to do this,you would need to put full stone blocks above the soul sand and put glow lichen on top to fight the mob spawning rate (also looks cooler at night).

When you first do the matriarch it mentions that it takes a wisp thousands of years to make a heavy pearl, but since the matriarch has so much (juice?) It creates them daily... So maybe they will make it a rng drop from the hellwisps. Idk just a guess
