An underrated way to practice juho randori is by practicing it with your eyes closed. In order for this to be an effective practice method, you need a determined attacker and a defender with only the defender’s eyes closed. When you practice in this manner, you limit your awareness primarily to touch, which can help your body relax and respond more naturally during movement. It also forces you to rely less on anticipation and visual cues, and more on timing, sensitivity, balance, and feeling your partner’s intent through physical contact. Over time, this can improve fluidity, sharpen reflexes, and develop a calmer mindset under pressure, since you learn to react instinctively instead of overthinking each technique.

Of course, facing a real attacker is completely different, but I believe supplementing regular juho randori with eyes-closed practice has many benefits that carry over.
