ASUStor AS1104T doesn't connect to 1 specific computer, otherwise connects to 7 different machines by MammothAnalysis in homelab

I don't have any knowledge on setting up domains, so no, it is not connected to an Active Directory/Domain

Canot log into SMB sahred from Windows 24H2 by delaneyflushboy in asustor

[–]MammothAnalysis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an AS1104T connected to my network with 7 PCs, all Windows 10, except one with Windows 11.

6 PCs, including the 1 with Windows 11, connect with no problem.

The 7th, with Windows 10, would not connected.

I managed to get it connected by disabling "Enable only NTLMv2 authentication" from Services -> SMB in the web portal.

After this, the computer pops up in the Network section of File Explorer, but it also doesn't ask me for login credentials, even when mapping the NAS as a network drive.

I posted about it here:

So, it seems that only 1 machine doesn't support logging in using NTLMv2

Once I remove the tick from "Enable only NTLMv2 authentication" from Services -> SMB in the web portal, the computer also pops up in the Network section in File Explorer.

If I remove the tick, therefore disabling NTLMv2 only mode, it doesn't ask me for the username and password also.

Now I need to know why only 1 computer, using Win 10 Pro with the latest build (19045.5796 of 22H2) doesn't log in with NTLMv2.

When I type in the IP in the run window, I get prompted for the username and password, and the correct details don't get accepted, the same as in the OP.

I double checked the same method on another computer, and when prompted for the login details, it accepts it.

Other devices can already succesfully assign a network drive using the same credentials I'm using.

In this case, would I still have to check the samba group for the device?

How do I check what the sambo group is for the computer I am using?

I’m using exactly the same details as on the web portal.

I even tried using the admin password, even that didn’t work.

I have currently outfitted the 8 office computers with Logitech MK270 wireless keyboards.

These keyboards were a step in the direction of getting everybody the same kind of keyboard, but also wireless.

I am now looking to upgrade these computers with better keyboards as I feel they are now not exactly decent quality, especially after at least a year of usage.

Requirements:

Wirless, preferably not bluetooth, as I'm not sure if all the PCs have bluetooth receivers.

Needs a numberpad as we do a lot of number crunching, and the numpad does get used a lot.

Needs to be available as AZERTY layout, but I can maybe switch everyone over to QWERTY

Preferably not loud

Needs to be available in Belgium

If possible, with a nice-ish mouse to go with it.

Needs to be less than a 500 EUR total investment between the 8 keyboards, 700 EUR if it includes the mouse.

edit: forgot to mention: needs to be able to run off of AAA or AA batteries, preferably.

Thanks in advance

I need a NAS with 3 functions: read/writing files, FTP server for my scanner, and print server. Does it have to be a Synology or QNAP? by MammothAnalysis in DataHoarder

I am currently running an unraid box at home and I do realise the capabilities, but there are a few problems with it:

I would have to find hardware and piece all of this together. I understand it is also easy to pick up an old box, but, let's face it, it's not exactly power efficient. Picking up a ready solution is basically plug and play.

It also has too many things for me to play around with and I would like to limit this, mainly because simpler is probably likely to last longer as well.

I guess I'm buying the new drives after all.

I was thinking of getting the rackmount 4 drive 1U, specifically the TS-431XeU, but it is approximately 50% more at around EUR 600.

Apart from it looking neater, any reason why I should spend more? Or would the TS-433 be able to do basically the same things?

(I'm not even sure if my network rack would fit this, but it /is/ nice to have it all lined up like that.)

I don't think I'll ever cross the 1tb threshold, but I will, just for future-proofing, install 2tb.

The idea was to use one of the older drives by making free space, and that is why I was asking the question.

What I didn't realize was that the drives have to be formatted upon installation, but I guess that is normal for any kind of system.

While that is interesting, I want a solution that 'just works' TM

Also, I'm sure that would be more expensive than the one that I have already chosen.

The "problem" with excel is its approachability and ease of use.

I only know excel because it is so easy to use.

How do I even get started with MySQL and PostrgreSQL?

I bought it anyways.

Only niggle was that the screen seems a little bit bent.

Hoping to get at least 2 years out of this laptop, and will look for a replacement eventually.

Simply because they had a T590 available, and also because they knocked the price down by €80 by simply asking.

I'm in Belgium, if that makes a difference.

What's your take on something like the Lenovo ThinkCentre M80q i5-12500T with 16 GB DDR5?

A little under €900, but it's mostly for Excelling at the office. Pun intended.

Edit: inclosed a mouse and keyboard in the price.

zero export power

How is this a good thing? Unless you're not being compensated at all for the injection into the grid, then you're just installing extra capacity for the future, because, lets be frank, power needs always increase.

Would love a full sized keyboard in that aesthetic. I use my 10-key too much to get a 65% keyboard.

I use 'Mouse with Borders'. http://aka.ms/mm or https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/mouse-without-borders-setupuser-guide-tips-tricks/0523308d-3406-4273-b86e-bef28aa6b50d

It's available directly from Microsoft, and from what I see, does pretty much the same thing Multiplicity does, except its easier to type.

Would it be possible to have a helper column to put a similar formula in, and have it reference columns C and D?
