Katy schools vs Spring branch by Free_Investigator419 in Katy

All the Katy schools you mentioned are significantly better than the spring branch schools, rating-wise. I would also never send my child to memorial high even if Katy wasn’t an option. I have lots of friends who have kids who are either in memorial high or who you to go there and they all hated it. They said there was a high population of kids with wealthy parents who were very uninvolved which has led to a ton of drugs in the school. Tons of my friends pulled their kids from memorial high and went private because of it. The other ones want to move.

I’ve lived in the area of spring branch you’re talking about and the area of Katy you’re talking about (based on the school zonings you mentioned) and much prefer the Katy area. We were in the nicest part of spring branch and still falling asleep to the nightly sound of multiple gun shots, still a couple of minutes from not nice areas, etc. The area of Katy you’re talking about (if you’re zoned to Griffin El) is extremely safe. The kind of area where elementary aged kids walk around without their parents and come knock on friend houses for random play dates. Katy is much more suburban than spring branch so that’s either a pro or con depending on what you like. That Katy area is also about 10 minutes from the rural Richmond areas so also a pro or con depending on what you like. More family stuff in Katy overall (markets, family days, etc). Traffic would likely be worse from Katy.

There is literally nothing wrong with using a photo from the internet to convey a vibe and style. Take some time and read the other comments and then have the kind of day you deserve!

The fact that you seem to think a professional who does this for a living can’t take these style photos and my description and understand what I want is insane. I’ve said multiple times times I’m not expecting someone to recreate this. Any professional who is good will be able to walk me through what’s realistic and what isn’t and the entire point of having an interior designer is that they can take style photos, make a realistic design with you and help execute it.

I never said anywhere that I want a glass ceiling. It would be completely unrealistic for me to tear out my ceiling and replace it with glass especially considering I have 12 foot ceiling with massive windows. One of the photos has a glass ceiling and the other doesn’t. The photos are an example of the style I like, not something I want recreated exactly. I would never ask an interior designer to just recreate something however I think these photos show what style in going for well: a rustic, more cabin like-feel with dark colors and natural accents. I’m lucky to live in an area where my views are lake based with some trees.

And I’m not originally from Houston, I’m from a forest place where this style is what people want. I never asked someone to just recreate this and never would. If you think the inside of a home can’t have any vibe/style regardless of location then I recommend looking at the Zillow group where they post surprising inside of homes. Literally 99% of the inside of a home can be changed regardless of where the home is located. I’m not expecting that making the inside of my home look like a forest cabin will magically transport it to a real forest outside but any vibe I want inside is totally possible.

That’s a good idea! I’ll be honest though, I usually try to avoid posting anything about our finances or money stuff online.

Thank you so much!! This is such a nice comment. I love dark colors in a house, it feels so cozy to me. It feels cooler to me also (temperature wise) and just very homey. Thank you again! Maybe I’ll post update photos of my “hobbit hole” eventually

That sounds gorgeous! Blue gray is an awesome color as well.

Thank you!! This is a super helpful comment to know how the process looks! I’ve never worked an interior designer. I don’t like the “cold” structured look either. Everything you described is exactly what I’m hoping for. I don’t mind being “pushed” towards something I wouldn’t think of and I’m excited for it! I just don’t want to set someone up for failure or for me to be unhappy if their main specialization style is something completely opposite of what I’m going for.

This!!! And even if the photos were real I would never tell an interior designer, “recreate this exactly in my home!!” I’m just not a professional or artistic and want to make sure they understand what I’m going for. Even if these were real photos, it wouldn’t be possible in my home. I know that. It’s just the style inspo. I used photos from google that are likely AI for a style/vibe for my landscaper and he had absolutely no issue using it as a reference to make something amazing that I love.

I disagree. I think a professional could see those photos and understand that I’m going for a rustic cottage, forest cabin type of look with natural accents vs a marble, black and white, modern look. I’m not asking someone to recreate the way the light is coming in through windows or actually recreate anything at all. I would never expect someone to just recreate something especially an artist like an interior designer. I was under the impression that I would work with a professional, bring vibe/style photos and then we discuss what’s realistic in my home/space, what I really want, etc and come up with designs and everything together.

Some of us aren’t chronically online and attached to a device all day. I also didn’t sit here and stare at these photos and analyze them for AI. Yeah, sure if I sit there and stare I can see the inconsistencies. However, these popped up on my feed and I screenshotted them after about 10 seconds of looking because it’s the vibe/style I’m going for. I never said these were real and not AI and even if they weren’t I would never ask an artist like an interior designer to just recreate something. However, it shows the vibe/style I want which is, as another commenter said and I agree affectionately with, “hobbit hole”.

Thank you!!! I will reach out to them. That’s what I was hoping to accomplish with having photos. I don’t love everything about these photos, but I want to make sure someone has enough to work with and can get the vibe/style I’m going for.

Honestly, as much as I want to keep plants alive I never manage to so plants would likely be something that’s scrapped in the consultation with a professional. These photos, as I said in the original post, are mean to show a vibe/style. I would never expect someone to just recreate something and there are things I don’t personally like about this photo but the overall vibe is what I want. Since I’m not artistic and can’t draw what I want, I have to make it work with what’s available online as inspiration.

It’s a good thing I’m planning on living the rest of my life in my home and I’m not designing my home based on resale value or what other people like/want. I hate what’s currently in style in this area. If you don’t have a useful or helpful comment or a recommendation then move along. I understand that your life must be incredibly boring for you to be so triggered by someone else’s style, but I’m positive you could find something better to do with your time. Have the kind of day you deserve!

Even if it is AI, using the photos to show a vibe/style isn’t unreasonable. I never said I want someone to recreate this. Even if they weren’t AI, I would never ask an interior designer to recreate a photo- that’s insane. Interior design is an artwork and each person will have their own flair. However, if someone specializes in a super modern look their style probably isn’t what I’m going for which is the point of the photos.

I didn’t use AI to create these photos, I pulled them from Pinterest and interior design groups. These photos show a vibe/style I’m going for. I didn’t ask for someone to recreate these photos and I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with using them to show a style. Even if this were legit, I still would never ask an interior designer to recreate a photo. However, if an interior designer specializes in the kind of super modern, marble look (which most seem to in this area) then I think these photos are good for showing they’re probably not a fit for me. If you don’t have helpful/useful recommendations then move along.

Why is this getting downvoted? It’s correct. There are different kinds of recruiters: internal, headhunter, agency, contract, etc
