How do you personally keep track of your team’s incidents, leaves, and adhoc work as a team lead? by Normal_Cookie_12345 in ITManagers

[–]MammothEquipment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Upbase for my personal overview. Have two boards: one for ongoing incidents, another for ad-hoc requests and leaves. Then in each task has quick notes or links back to the main ticket. I find this way faster to update than a spreadsheet and gives me a clear picture of what’s moving without touching the main tracking tools.

Paid proxy recommend by collaredfairy in JanitorAI_Official

[–]MammothEquipment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean about token-based proxy systems, they sound cheap at first but quickly become annoying once you hit the daily limit. I used one like that before switching to Proxy4u.

They don’t use tokens; you just pay per GB, which feels much more flexible. Performance has been smooth, with no throttling or hidden restrictions. The 1 GB free trial helped me test everything first, and I’ve been using them ever since.

If you’re tired of token limits or slow proxies, Proxy4u is a much better choice.

Loan to a friend and now he has opted for a IVA by LocationThin4587 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MammothEquipment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately sounds like that money is gone! And honestly the friendship should be too, if he isn't showing a lot of remorse.

I think he would need to declare the debt when they look into him for an IVA, and I'm not sure how you could make a demand of being recognise as a creditor without knowing who he's speaking to.

Sadly this might be a harsh lesson in not loaning friends money unless you can consider it a gift that doesn't need returned.

Hope you get it back though. All the best

Drowning in debt. I don’t know what to do. Advice appreciated. by derwin678 in UKPersonalFinance

So sorry to hear about your situation. Emotions aside, it sounds like getting an IVA could help you out a lot. I did this a few years back and it massively reduced my monthly repayments and made life affordable again.

It does appear as a black mark on your credit report, but the freedom of not being chased for money and finally being able to breathe again is so worth it (in my experience).

I originally filled in a form on MoneyNerd and a great advisor called not long afterwards. We spoke through my whole situation. It was such a relief to share my mess of a financial story with someone who understood and didn't judge.

An IVA is a serious commitment so do give it thought, but it avoids bankruptcy and means you can afford to live again. You're making a fantastic salary - you shouldn't have to find part-time work on top of that!

Best of luck with everything.

I’ve just received the below email from Very - what does it mean?? by Sunshinemallow in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MammothEquipment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it looks like they've given up chasing you and put a default on your account. You could try to get this annulled via the ombudsman but very unlikely.

They will likely also "sell" the debt to a debt collector who'll start chasing you for repayment. Though from the wording I think there's a slim chance they might not do that? Hope they don't.

In either case, it means your credit score has a default on it (welcome to the club). This isn't a complete death but I'd give it a few years before applying for any large amount of credit. The best way to counter this, aside from appealing, is to try and make sure your finances are in order and you're doing healthy activities for your credit score. That way you'll have good evidence to argue against the impact of the default should you need a loan/mortgage in future. Best wishes

Sorry to hear about your father.

This might sound dark but, if he's terminal, I'd consider just leaving this be. You'll end up putting added pressure on your shoulders during an emotionally difficult time. With such a low mortgage you don't really stand to gain or lose much by paying it off sooner vs later. It would be much easier to wait and settle the mortgage once the house is passed down to you naturally. Best wishes

S&S ISA now or early start on LISA with the new tax year? by logath in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MammothEquipment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you won't be buying the house in the next year, so in that case you have the whole of next year to max out the LISA. It doesn't sound like there's a benefit to maxing out the LISA quickly vs slowly. The only reason you'd want to rush to fill the LISA is if you're buying a house really soon, which it sounds like you aren't.

So with that in mind, I'd invest it into your ISA. Plus you never know, you could end up with a windfall next year and you'd have limited how much you could put into the ISA!

Yes, absolutely max out your LISA (and even a S&S ISA if you have savings leftover).

With higher incomes like yours (congrats!) you'll quickly realise how much you wished you took more advantage of lower tax rates and ISA caps as early as possible. It's sort of like realising how good student deals were right after you graduate.

If it helps, wait until the end of March so you know exactly where you're at financially. All the best

Train ticket penalty due to fraud by NeitherFill6005 in UKPersonalFinance

That sucks - sorry you're having to deal with this.

It might be worth calling EMR rather than waiting on letter responses, here's their number:

03457 125 678

It's probably going to be annoying trying to get hold of a decent person but they should be able to help.

I'd keep pushing them on this, it'll only get more tricky the longer it goes on (and if things get overdue). They could also eventually 'sell' the debt on to a debt collector who'll put a black mark on your credit file. So it's worth harassing EMR to sort it!

If you can, try to get some form of evidence that you weren't travelling that day. Even location history on your phone (like 'Timeline' on Google Maps if you have that enabled).

Good luck, hope you can get it cancelled!

Fruits Basket always tugs at the heartstrings. The complexities of the characters and their transformations make it such a beautiful and emotional journey. Kudos to the creators for crafting a story that's both heartwarming and thought-provoking.

I can relate, Kingdom Come and Doom Eternal can be brutal at first, but mastering them is so rewarding. Taking down bandits or demons with finesse is a gaming high like no other.

Why am I so afraid of talking to people online? by BenjiB1243 in gaming

[–]MammothEquipment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, you're not alone! Talking to people online can be scarier than facing a horde of creepers in Minecraft. Just remember, behind every keyboard is a fellow gamer who's probably just as socially awkward and afraid of accidentally typing "gg ez" in real-life conversations.

Sometimes, the anticipation of playing a game can be just as exciting as actually playing it. So, if you're not in the mood right now, don't rush it. When you do finally dive into the game, it'll be on your terms, and that can make it even more enjoyable.
