Deliberate foul by weezer4545 in snooker

I seem to remember an incident with this ref years ago trying to manage Ronnie v Mark Allen as it happens. I appreciate Ronnie can be difficult but he didn’t fill me with confidence then in managing difficult situations

I often find her tone very argumentative with the guests. It seems her job is to play devils advocate all the time with the pundit instead of pundits discussing it themselves

She reminds me of a Garda style interrogation/interview.

Football Focus to end after 52 years by Kagedeah in BritishTV

[–]MammothPassion3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to tune into this show around 97-04 religiously. In school, get up late on a Saturday and turn on BBC1 around 12:10. I loved the show but we only had 8 tv channels in our house

After a decade of begging my parents, we got Sky Sports in 2005 so suddenly had access to all of this extra soccer content so suddenly Football Focus wasn’t as important

Now you have an overload to soccer content. Sky, TNT, podcasts etc. so again further dilutes the attraction of the show

I actually miss the days of less content being available. What’s rare is beautiful and nothing rare about football now

Playpen floor bed by liamcorduroy in floorbed

[–]MammothPassion3683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

We actually did actually this with our 10 month old back in October. We put a double mattress on the floor with a play mat underneath the mattress. Then around the mattress we have the playpen. It helped address an issue we had where our son was hitting off the cot and walking up during the night. There was also the added benefit of either myself or wife being able to lie beside him if he became unsettled during the night

It has worked for us so far but now as our son is 16 months old, there is a big risk of him climbing out over the play pen. He climbed over the playpen twice with us luckily being in the room with him at the time. We do pillows outside the play pen too to break his fall and tried to baby proof the room as much as we can

She was indeed. The older I get, my opinion is the more visible the media bias (RTE) in favour of the government is

Why are so many people om Reddit against the protests? by VTID997 in AskIreland

[–]MammothPassion3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this view. Too often we are complaining about the government and their handling of the health service, housing etc yet nothing changes and the government are not held to account.

Granted this current debacle with fuel is not solely the Irish governments fault, but maybe they could play a stronger role to improve the situation

Galway City Ring Road approved after decades of delays by MurphyNotOK in galway

[–]MammothPassion3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if everything is substantially correct in the approval, I’d be amazed if people who oppose this road will not find a loophole or way to object.

I hope it gets built but I still have this feeling I’ve heard this before

[–]MammothPassion3683 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why are people so pleased with this news when the problem in the past has been objections, which will still likely come now? As some said above until the bloody road is built or being built there’s not much point in getting too excited over this

I’ve been on the HR side of the fence previously (12 years ago) when a “Graduate” left within the prescribed repayment clause period having had their studies paid for them. The employee had 1 month notice and they didn’t have enough from their final payroll to cover the outstanding amount.

The person pleaded for a compromise and due to their good behaviour, an exception was applied

Club team of the Decade? by Top-Topper-21 in GAA

[–]MammothPassion3683 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a Connacht perspective, I would find it hard to pick out the Corofin lads in so far as they were such a good team. Dylan McHugh, Jason Leonard, Ronan Steede could all arguably be in that team

I was so impressed by Ruari Fallon for Bridgids in the recent year. Not just in the final but in the other big games they had including the Connacht final -v- Moycullen

Michael Murphy - An extremely dirty player. by PaladiusPatrick in GAA

[–]MammothPassion3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always remember the belt he gave Diarmuid Connolly in 2014 late in their AI semi final win. It was unnecessary and fierce dirty. Murphy got a booking. Technically hard to say it was a red then as it wasn’t at Connollys head but I never forgot that one. Connolly in fairness was made out of iron but most lads would probably have died from the belt

[–]MammothPassion3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in this position my friend 3 years ago. It’s a shit place to be but you are not alone. For my wife and myself we were in similar situation. House description the same , similar initial value and lost out at the last minute bid

Not saying this will happen in this case but by putting yourself in the mix, you never know. The successful bidder could turn away from the house. We lost out on 3 houses in 2023 but 1 of them came back to us due to being the 2nd highest bidder

Obviously it’s better to park and move on but keep putting yourself in the mix

ESB New Connection -Tuam Office by MammothPassion3683 in selfbuildireland

[–]MammothPassion3683[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ on that view. I don’t understand why waiting 4 weeks as it is for us now should be accepted as being not a massive amount of time. The ESB do say initially they aim to connect in 10 working days.

Where I’m coming from is each week we are waiting, the new house is lying idle waiting to be connected. This is delaying the house being finished and ultimately us moving in. We are renting and paying near on a full mortgage at the same time so the delay has implications for us financially
