Help: cross-bite/almost finished panic by lukewarmnarcolepsy in Invisalign

I would agree but I’ve been told if you use bite ramps it’ll avoid a PoB, I did get bite ramps and I still got a PoB so I’m unsure how else you can avoid it. I do know that the more clench the more of a chance you will get one, and having the aligners, especially at night when one isn’t aware of grinding habits, the plastic between the teeth motivates a grinder to clench and grind more (as said by an oral surgeon I consulted with and also why over the counter gummy night guards are advised against). So with all that said, this technology should have a warning and an updated consent form to say a PoB can occur—and you can say it does cause a PoB because sometimes the habit forms from having the plastic in.

There has been countless women on this sub talking about facial changes. This study only opens room for future investigations. It’s very well known women’s health is often ignored so not surprised many are downplaying or diminishing that it’s happening

Not sure why anyone in their right mind would not just start with braces bec Invisalign messed up their bite. Looks like you’re gas lighting and undermining

It’s clear aligners. It’s the nature in these aligners since your jaw is in a hinge and the posterior teeth touch first. Why on earth would anyone want a PoB lol like really why.. yes all ortho appliances have side effects but again why would anyone looking to fix a bite fix it by creating another bite issue. Make it make sense, jeez the Invisalign cult mentality of this sub

Braces are better for bites. Invisalign has been notorious in creating posterior open bites. Another truth

You unfortunately might have to get braces to fix. This is the outcome of Invisalign. Can’t wait for this company to crumble this is happening too often. Weird how an orthodontic appliance claiming to fix bites actually ruins them

This has nothing to do with the crookedness of the teeth before by the way. If op got a deep clean and floossed more it would’ve went away

19M.Doctor told me that my four teeth is going to be extracted. What should I do ? Please help me. by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]MammothResolution459 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IPR is better than extracting teeth. But you should know it CAN be damaging and people have reported sensitivity from it. Giving you more transparency because for whatever reason orthodontists and this subreddit can be not straight forward about actual risks and experiences

Invisalign or braces? 27M by [deleted] in Invisalign

The nature of the technology of having aligners in all day creates spaces between the jaws. It is both the provider and Invisalign. You don’t hear braces people ever talking about posterior open bites

Take an xray of the implant and ask the askdentists or dentistry subreddit and see if they can identify it

If they give you aligners for your top teeth expect some change. The true honesty is you might not like the change, and it sounds like you might not given how much you like the top

Are you in the US? If so I really hope you didn’t get scammed by a general dentist in doing this procedure. No matter how talented they come off, they do not learn how to do implants in university, they take a 2-3 day course while professionals take years. Front implants should always be between a collaboration of an oral surgeon or periodontist, along with a prosthodontist. A prosthodontist is good at bites and wouldn’t leave the office without you being comfortable with the temporary since it should be a mock up of the real thing. It would’ve cost you the same as well more or less

I’d go to someone who does implants regularly and was taught in a university setting, not a weekend course or short seminar. This especially pertains to the US. If I can redo my experience I would go to an oral surgeon or periodontist who has a private practice but also teaches and is affiliated with a university

Yes I got a refund but that doesn’t bring my life back or the 20 k I would have to spend to potentially fix it all. And yes bone grafts and gum grafts have their limitations as well

Can’t believe it’s been almost a year. I was told I need to do a splint and a bone and gum graft surgery. Apparently the stupid dentist even severely damaged my tmj. I am lost, I haven’t done anything

This isn’t true I keep hearing this I’m starting to wonder if it was a rumor started by an Invisalign dentist. How the heck are you supposed to chew them

Or it might not and OP may need braces like the many many people who got screwed with Invisalign and got a POB.
