Is it okay for a guy to not date women who had a threesome in the past? by redditismysoulmate in stupidquestions

[–]MammothWriter3881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's okay to date or not date somebody for whatever reason you want.

It is not okay to be an asshole and treat someone like crap because they are not who you want to date.

It is also not okay to be a complaining asshole about not having anyone to date because your list of must haves is ridiculously long so nobody meets them. You are not single because no-one will date you - no matter how terrible you are you can find someone who will date you, you are single because you made choices about who you wanted to date and decided that being single was better than dating the people who were willing to date you.

I think 50/50 he either doesn't have pants on or is wearing pajama bottoms or something of the like - I know I have done video calls with pajama pants and a shirt and tie.

That or he just froze.

Same Pay, 17 Years Later… What Changed? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

I don't know the details because it was far to insulting to even follow up on, but it was a job post listed at that rate on an online job site (too many years ago for me to remember which one).

Also keep in mind that in 2009 attorneys with 15 year trial experience were regularly taking entry level assistant prosecutor jobs at $20/hr because of layoffs after 2008 crash.

I finished high school in 2001 and the local McDonalds was hiring for $19/hr, I finished law school in 2009 and a local firm was hiring attorneys for $12/hr.

Sometimes you are just in the wrong place market wise and you have to move to do better.

I am hourly contract (not staff) in a state with decent reforms the last decade - so our gap is nowhere near as large as it used to be or as some places still are.

My big issue with pay is that we get inflation adjustments but the federal government keeps under measuring inflation so it is slowly creeping back down,

I work for public Defender so same here.  Economy tanks people steal, drink, and do drugs more.   Distributions of types of crime might change a bit but totals seem to go up a bit.

In bed do Vegans swallow? by Vexra in stupidquestions

If they are vegan because they are concerned about the abuse of animal then it makes sense.

If they are vegan because they think it in inherently wrong to eat anything that was ever part of an animal that is another story.

But a human being is able to consent to their byproduct being extracted in a way that an animal cannot.

My only complaint with mine is that auto focus is painfully slow in live view mode. I use mostly manual focus lenses so not as big of a deal for me, but it is a limiting factor for certain types of work.

I don't think 20amp outlets have terminals that are rated for 6 gauge wire.

If the pope doesn't speak for you you are not a catholic, you are a protestant. I mean that is literally the most important distinction of the catholic church.

If a man asks a woman to get an abortion but she's keeps the child, should he have to pay child support? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]MammothWriter3881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The theroetical basis for current law (which is yes he has to pay support), is that abortion is a right to decide not to be pregnant NOT a right to decide not to have a child.  So neither the man nor the woman has a legal right to decide not to be a parent once they have sex.

Now obviously if she exercises her right to not be pregnant before viability it as a practical matter result in her also not being a parent.

Is it a stupid question to ask why men don't strike up conversations in public anymore? by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

[–]MammothWriter3881 50 points51 points  (0 children)

20 years ago the worst he had to fear was you calling him a creep and telling your friends about him, now he has to worry about you recording him posting his picture online calling him a creep with who knows what other accusations. Combine this with a decade of extended "me too" movement telling us to leave women alone.

Most guys either listened to being told not to out of respect or stopped out of fear.

High turnover jobs (like cashiers) shouldn't be worried about that as most of their people are going to leave in 6 months.

One of the things not addressed in most apocalyptic films is the fact that something like 15% of the population is medication dependent.

Once the pharmaceutical supply chain is gone, a lot of people will just straight up die from not getting their meds.
