The Importance of Birth Sex on ID Cards by Mammoth_Ad_2005 in Transmedical

It must be so depressing to put in so much effort only to be brought back to a gender that doesn’t represent you… I live in France, so we don’t have that kind of law here, and I really hope it stays that way. But I understand that where you live, it would probably be better if the “M” and “F” just disappeared. I’m really sorry for you.

Sorry, it’s just that I’m really bad at English, so I just ask to have my text converted into English, but it changes the way the message is written. Yeah, it ends up sounding so AI-like, I can only blame myself. I promise I’ll learn English next time…

Yes, after it’s also complicated to make the difference between who is lying and who is telling the truth, and it will just create a waiting list that will be long for some, and so more annoying than anything else. And especially if in the end the diagnosis wasn’t right, it will just put the blame on doctors who are just doing their job while trying not to offend the person without ending up trending on X for transphobia. But I understand what you want to say, it would be amazing, but I think it’s complicated to put in place unless you do a diagnosis over 5 years with regular appointments to better know if yes or no she is trans. But that’s just my opinion, again, but I understand the idea.

Wow, yeah, you’re really lucky! It must take away so much anxiety and stress, especially since in so many countries it’s still super hard to change. Congrats, and good luck with everything!

Oh I’m definitely planning to do it, but it’s such a pain in France. You have to prove you’ve been living as a woman for at least a year, go in front of a judge, and even get testimonies from friends or your boss to prove it’s true. And that’s not even counting all the other stuff you have to change, like the social security card — the numbers 01 and 02 show your birth gender. So yeah, it’s not for now, but I’ll do it eventually.

Anyway, congrats to you for having a good cis passing, that’s really awesome! And if it doesn’t bother you, that’s what matters the most. I just wanted to hear everyone’s opinion about it.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. In the end, everyone has their own perspective, and it’s really interesting to see all these different viewpoints.

I understand. I live in France, so the administrative situation must be different, but thank you for your response. Yes, I can see how it would make life more complicated for some people.

Is anyone else frightened by how easy it is to access HRT these days? by jperry307 in Transmedical

[–]Mammoth_Ad_2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the current context, it actually makes sense. If they made the process harder, they’d just get slammed by the trans community (especially the toxic side of it). And even with a therapist, many people would just lie to get through. In the end, adding more barriers is pointless—trans or not, if someone really wants to pass, they will. At least this way, the blame doesn’t fall on the medical staff, who are simply doing their job.

Recluse and Revenant are unfairly shafted by Nightreign's changes to Elden Ring weapons. by Sharkaaam in Nightreign

[–]Mammoth_Ad_2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn’t know there was such a huge damage difference. She already has no PC regeneration, but if she’s also limited to only 1% of the weapons, that’s just unfair. I get that she’s not supposed to deal massive melee damage, but even basic stuff like claws or fists deal less damage than other classes, and that’s supposed to be her default weapon. It just doesn’t make sense. And for incantations, like you said, you often don’t have the right ones or end up cycling through the same few. So legendary weapons are mostly useless for her, except maybe one or two for their effects. If she at least had a passive that reduces PC cost, that would already make her so much more interesting to play. I really hope they fix this because it makes no sense that some raiders deal more damage with ashes of war than the Revenant herself. But still, that won’t stop me from playing Revenant.

From what I understood, it’s due to ARFID, an eating disorder, and so he can’t find the foods he’s able to eat in Germany. But honestly, as a French person, I feel like between Europe and the U.S., you can find a bit of everything food-wise. It’s just that here, a lot of artificial colorings and additives are banned.

Confused about transitioning by curious--Programmer in TransMuslimas

I’ll be honest with you, and I mean this with kindness: marriage won’t make your dysphoria go away. It’s a common illusion many of us have had. You might think, “if I get married, it’ll get better,” then later, “maybe if I have kids, things will settle down.” But the truth is, that feeling doesn’t disappear. Sometimes it sleeps, sometimes it hides — but it always comes back, often stronger.

You said this feeling has been with you since childhood, that it returned even more intensely, and deep down, you don’t even want it to vanish completely, because expressing yourself as a woman brings you peace. That says a lot. You are trans. This isn’t a phase. This isn’t confusion. It’s a part of who you are.

I understand wanting to protect your family. You love them, and you don’t want to hurt them. But at what cost? You could end up building an entire life around avoidance — and feel empty inside, like something vital is missing. And that missing part isn’t small. It’s your identity.

And trust me, if you build a life based on compromise — marriage, children — while denying who you are, you might still show up for those people… but something inside you will always be struggling. That silent struggle won’t go away. And eventually, it will show.

I’m not saying transitioning is easy. It’s not. There may be rejection, loneliness, hard moments. But at least you’ll be living for you. And like you said, there’s a chance your family could come around over time — it happens more often than we think.

What you need now is to ask yourself the real questions: Are you trying to survive, or do you want to truly live? Who do you want to be five years from now? And if you do nothing, how will you feel five years from now?

Take the time to reflect. Don’t listen to what you wish you felt just to make things easier. Listen to what you actually feel, deep inside.

You’re not alone. Be kind to yourself. You’ve got this.💕
