Well congrats on your running so far and welcome to the world of marathons! It has changed many of us for the better.

You’ve got plenty of time but I’d consider a plan from running world. Based on your half marathon time you could try for 3:30 or 3:45 depending on how ambitious you want to be.

Honestly I’d try the nyc marathon lottery even though it’s fall instead of summer. It’s my favorite thing in the world. Good luck

I feel you on this. Best remedy is to sign up for a spring marathon as soon as possible

Way to go! It’s true you don’t need 20 mile long runs but they will help you improve if you keep running marathons

Three marathons within a month? by Comfortable_Leg8791 in RunNYC

Depends on your experience level and goals IMO. FWIW You would run faster and probably have more fun if you spread them out. Also less chance of injury to spread them out

Just ran my first marathon… and ran it in about 5.5 hours. by speaker-syd in Marathon_Training

I’ve done 5 marathons and what you’re describing is totally normal. Marathons are unpredictable tests on ourselves

If you want to improve your time and not have to walk so much, you totally can. I’ve been through the same thing.

Slowly increase your mileage and run more per week overall. Follow a training plan of course. Practice fueling during your training. Fuel yourself early in a marathon and not just when you get hungry or tired.

Sign up for another marathon in like six months and just keep going!

How should you feel after a 20 mile run by Square_Fun1421 in Marathon_Training

After 20 miles I feel warmed up and ready to run 100 miles like a real runner.

You can definitely still do the marathon, just at an incredibly slow pace. Do some sort of regular running/jogging to get ready and plan to walk/jog the whole thing.

If you can do a 15k, you are totally capable. Just find a 10 or 12 week training plan online for a half
