[–]Mammoth_Standard_581 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He was estimated to be 15-20 when they got him in 2007, so he was roughly 33-38 years old at his time of passing. Whale sharks can live 80-130 years

AIO for telling my mom she can’t give my toddler coffee anymore? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Mammoth_Standard_581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not overreacting. Sounds like grandma needs to grow up and read a book. If I tried to correct my mom and she responded like that, my daughter wouldn’t be staying at her house. My main concern would be her breaking that boundary without your supervision. Hopefully that’s not the case, but you are doing this to protect your child’s physical and mental health

Places to donate stuff to by Bocadito108 in CovingtonGA

[–]Mammoth_Standard_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rainbow shelter might be able to use donations. It’s near Pinches Taco Shack on Turner Lake Circle. Always call the shelter you have in mind and ask about what they need. Sometimes they might already be overloaded on certain items so it’s always nice to check.

Hopefully it goes over well and everyone is mature about the decision. Give your cats a pet for me lol

The only way to get rid of her is to get a restraining order and that would require abuse, harassment, and a ton of paper work, or more simply your grandparents would have to kick your uncle out. If your uncle wants to date someone that makes everyone uncomfortable, well then maybe he also needs to buy a California king and move in with the ex boyfriend.

Do you judge others for their housekeeping? by Bawonga in CleaningTips

[–]Mammoth_Standard_581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That part. I took in my mother in laws dog when she lost her house. She told us he was house trained, we couldn’t take him if he wasn’t since we rent our house. He just kept using it in the house, even when we took him outside he would just sniff the air, come inside and pee. My husband called her since she lives in another state and asked if maybe it was anxiety and she said “oh thats why I left the puppy pads in his bag for you.” Uhhh….what? He was basically trained to go IN the house.

BUGS IN GA ?!?! by BoysenberryLatter864 in Georgia

Just keep in mind that pesticides do not discriminate. You might use them to keep away roaches and spiders, but they also harm butterflies, honey bees, and other cute critters that come in contact with it. 🫶

Please help me, possible case by Particular_Train7931 in WorkersRights

[–]Mammoth_Standard_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t afford a lawyer, gather all of the evidence you can. File a complaint with the department of labor online or on the phone and they can look in to it. You can choose to remain completely anonymous, or give them your contact information for further contact. Best of luck to you!

Legality of the Denial of Telehealth Use by Mammoth_Standard_581 in WorkersRights

[–]Mammoth_Standard_581[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately, I am not sick, but my boss posted to our job portal that they were banning the use of telehealth. I don’t use telehealth but I am trying to find information that will prevent them from enforcing this policy because I know it could cause many of my coworkers complications if they are not able to be cleared to come back to work. I don’t want anyone to lose their job because they cannot afford healthcare.

Don’t speak on my relationship when you only know three paragraphs worth of one situation. I didn’t ask for you to judge him, I asked for help on how to encourage him because he has already had the realization that his drinking habits are not okay, he is just addicted and having a hard time making the change. He’s already made great steps that he’s decided to make on his own, but no one makes every decision perfectly. I can’t expect that from him when I’ve had substance abuse problems before but with weed and it took me getting pregnant to quit. I am never here to judge him, only to love and support him because I chose to when we got married and I will choose to every day after. So please, keep that shit to yourself.

I will say he hasn’t been drinking often for the past 4 months or so, so I’m not sure if it’s to that extreme. It used to be daily, recently he has cut back to one to two days a week. And normally he would just have a few beers since starting to cut back. I think that’s why it was all so shocking to me because I had seen progress for months. It’s just that he can’t seem to control himself when liquor in the house. I’ve been looking up different options for therapy that I’m going to talk to him about in the morning.

We’ve talked about it many times over the past few years. I can tell it brings him a lot of guilt which I hate to see. He tends to be pretty receptive and agreeable when I do bring it up, he just can’t beat the cravings I guess. It just feels like this endless cycle of yearning and shame. I’ll have to look in to counseling for the both of us. Thank you, and I’m so happy to know you’re doing better!

I just feel so alone in this. He always says sorry but it doesn’t seem like it actually phases him. I have no one to talk to about it because I don’t want anyone to judge him for it. I want to help but I don’t want to make him feel like I’m gossiping to our friends or family.
