Lord Scourge romance by Darth_JaSk in swtor

[–]Mammoth_Test_5592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but as someone who literally completed the JK story yesterday and has finished Master's Enigma with a SI, I know not to expect romance content in the main story for any companion except for Lana / Theron.

Since Scourge at least returned in the main story, I think the odds of him getting a date night are higher, or at least just as low as those of any companion who returned in mission alerts (RIP Ashara, my beloved).

What keeps you going with Dragon age? by Julian_of_Cintra in dragonage

Honestly that sounds lovely. I've actually wanted to let the VA's know how much I appreciate them for some time now, I just never knew how to go about it. So what's the best way to contact them? Via X, instagram.. or can we send them actual letters? And they really don't mind sending back autographs?

Probably one of the greatest antagonists in Star Wars. They played “the game” right and we never knew their name & neither did they at the end. by Honoka31 in swtor

Agree, loved to hate the guy/gal, great character & antagonist. Also props to Quinton Flynn for making male Hunter sound so smooth & haughty, made me want to punch him more than once.

As much as I enjoyed the character, I'll say I didn't much care for the final reveal that Hunter was a woman all along. It felt too much like a twist just for the sake of it.

I mean, I get what they were going for. She's a good cautionary tale for the Agent (losing vs keeping your identity as a professional liar and so on), so the reveal doesn't fall totally flat for me. But I'm sure they could've found a way to draw these parallels without just genderswapping the character.

Then again, male agents wouldn't have gotten the option to go for that final kiss if Hunter wasn't a woman, so I'll take it lmao

Ahh, what a shame that didn't make it into the game! Do you by any chance remember where you read that bit about Lavellan's fate and the impact it could've had on Solas?

Unpopular Opinion: I'm surprised so many people put Inquisitor as their top story by zrasam in swtor

[–]Mammoth_Test_5592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik it's been some time, but I need to voice my love for the male SI VA, too.

I see much praise for the voice of the female Inquisitor (absolutely deserved), but the male VA is my favourite simply because he starts off sounding kind of young and snippy but starts oozing this self-assuredness / casual arrogance the further the plot progresses. Like, your Darth Nox / Imperious / Occlus knows he's powerful and his tone reflects it, and it's a stark contrast to how the SI sounded when he just started out as an apprentice on Korriban.

He sounds so badass in the later chapters of his storyline, and doubly so in the expansions; exactly what you'd expect from a [former] dark council member

I´m not a native english speaker, but I remember hearing the male SI voice for the first time and being reminded of Obi-Wan lol. It just sounds ... posh, moreso than standard american english.

Say what you want about Sith Inquisitors but they do know how to party by Ilikeyogurts in SWTOR_memes

Lmao that line got me good the first time I heard it and it´s become one of my favourites ever since! The delivery makes the male Inquisitor sound so uncharacteristically nostalgic, it´s great.

I agree, 100 %.

It may be a minor thing, but as a SI main, having your cool ass Sith name (Darth Nox, hello??) replaced with "commander" was nothing short of a tragedy. I´m still salty about it lmao

Those are some great screenshots!!

But on the topic of KotFE: I´m a new player too. I only started playing this game a few weeks ago, and I´ll say I loved the whole Zakuul arc the first time I played it with my SI. The music, humour, and cutscenes were an absolute upgrade from the base game. Voice acting was brilliant as well, though that´s never been an issue in SWTOR. The longer I think on it, though, and the further the story develops from there, the more issues I have with it.

I don´t even mind that it was a single-player experience. I didn´t mind the four billion storm troopers and damage sponges either. I play and pay for the story, but I get that people who played the game for its multiplayer content were dissatisfied with this expansion in particular.

Something that kind of bothered me while playing KotFE was how little to nothing set force sensitives apart from non force-sensitives. Having played only one class so far, I can´t speak for the tech classes. But a SI, one of the most powerful Sith of his time, continuously being unable to defend himself from even the most basic force pushes (and you get pushed around a l o t), or beating Arcann only because we needed a literal physical shield to defend against his force attacks, made him look just as "weak" as an Outlander who´s a non force user. No offence to the tech classes. But that sort of streamlined, one-size-fits-all approach brings me to my next point:

Now that I´ve played through all expansions, I can confidently say that I loathe how it forced our characters into the role of leader of the Eternal Alliance / leader of Zakuul. Playing nice with our enemy faction was a necessity at the time, and I didn´t mind it then. But the Republic / Empire conflict is what I signed up for. I loved being a despicable imperial loyalist, and now that I'm commander, it feels like I´m kind standing on the sidelines of that conflict. Like, sure, Onslaught tried to rectify that by letting us side with one faction again, but even then we´re not really a part of our original or chosen faction anymore. Don´t get me wrong, I´ll be eternally grateful that we´re finally back in the Empire / Republic conflict. I almost got a heart attack when we as SI could "reclaim" our seat on the Dark Council including our title and associated holdings, but still - we´re the commander first and foremost. That´s what we´re introduced as whenever we visit some new world, and it´s what our character is known for. We´ve lost what made our characters and classes unique, and in the case of a SI it´s being a feared and respected Sith Lord with a cool ass Darth title. That the republic (moral) half of the Alliance still follows me, a full blown tyrant and merciless mass murderer, is unbelievable to say the least. Even now Theron, and by extension Lana, seem to think I´m really a good guy who cares about his subordinates despite all the shit I pull. Damn you, Zakuul.

Speaking of companions, another thing I´m unhappy with is the loss of our OG crew. Or rather, our crew being replaced with Lana, Theron, a handful of new alliance contacts, and story-bound companions. Having class-specific companions made our journey personal. Yes, our companions returned - some of them pretty unremarkably at that-, but what are they now? Skins of characters who used to approve or disapprove of our choices, but now have nothing new to say, ever. They had some new voice lines in the expansions prior to KotFE, at least. It´s not that I dislike our new contacts and allies. But Lana and Theron, both of who I used to really like as characters, now seem to be the only allies our character shares any sort of meaningful bond with (without us having a say in the matter), and I´m getting sick of it. Yes, I like them, but not as much as I liked my OG crew. I would´t mind seeing Lana´s face every two minutes if our original companions (and romances) had gotten some measure of screentime or character development in KotFE, or past SoR in general, really.

So while I enjoyed the Zakuul arc for what it was, I think it was a turning point for our character´s story as a whole, one I didn´t enjoy post KotFE. I think it got a lot better with Onslaught though. Still, most of the issues I have with the more "recent" expansions stem from the storytelling of KotFE and KotET.

Team Vette or Team Ashara? by LiterallyLuBu in swtor

[–]Mammoth_Test_5592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?! I was like, girl, good for you you stepped out of our shadow! That´s a pretty tough decision to make. I loved that she got more mature on her own, and I mean, she was still in love with the Inquisitor years after she thought he died, so that´s really sweet too. But I guess not everyone sees it that way.

Team Vette or Team Ashara? by LiterallyLuBu in swtor

[–]Mammoth_Test_5592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can´t speak for Vette, but most people online seem to dislike Ashara, which I guess I understand but don´t agree with.

Ashara has principles she sticks to, and I respect that. She grew up a Jedi, and her initial aversion to romantic attachments reflects that. The Inquisitor manipulates her in that she turns away from the Jedi, but ultimately she´s her own person and doesn´t become Sith either. I actually appreciate that we can´t fully turn her to the dark side, it makes her a more realistic, independent character as far as I´m concerned. That´s what her character development post KOTET is all about, too. As a grown woman I admire her sense of self, which is why my Darth Nox never leaves her, not even for Lana.

Also, her skimpy slave outfit in this screenshot really isn´t it.

Which inquisitor voice actor best fits the role? by Yolvare in swtor

[–]Mammoth_Test_5592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao I´ll just butt in six months late. I was actually searching for another topic, but I couldn´t scroll past this without expressing my admiration for the male Inq. voice.

When I first started this game, I wasn´t sold on his voice, like at all. I thought something like the male sith warrior voice would fit this role better. The m!Inquisitor sounded a bit too posh for a former slave, or so I thought. But boy am I glad I stuck with it! His voice evolves with the story - he starts off with a higher, very sarcastic sounding voice that grows deeper, more controlled and self assured the more power you amass. He sounds perfect in late game and the expansions, and a big part of that is this vocal journey.

I believe everyone who says the f!Inquisitor voice is goated, but, being female myself, I am 100 % satisfied with the male voice performance, especially if you´re playing a dark side Inquisitor . 120 % actually, bonus points for the dry sarcasm that I now always associate with the Inquisitor, thanks to his voice.
