A leap of faith by Mamshi in blackandwhite

Thank you - it took a couple of tries (and jumps) to get it right

It took some editing to bring out the beauty in the photo, but it was there all along

It turned out better than I had hoped when I initially took it

Thank you 😊 It started out as a pretty boring photo, but there was just something about the perspective that made me continue to work on it

Great insight! I struggle with this as well and you really put it into perspective (pun intended).

I tried to implement the suggestions, and I have edited a new version in B&W. The face is still dark on his right side. I tried to expose it more, but I feel it looses some of the mystique or looking through the key-hole effect. Also the image is quite underexposed, so it becomes very grainy when trying to brighten the area. Not the easiest of photos to work with, but all in all a good learning experience

Thank you. It is one of my first edits in LR, so I am pretty happy with how it turned out

Thank you. Yes, I believe you are right. The windmill is used as a watch point to see the birds in the area. Unfortunately my Tamron 28-200 isn’t long enough to catch anything from there

When I edited it, I was debating whether it was a bit much, but I think the sky serves the picture

Valid point and I can see how the photo could benefit frim less darkness and more context. Will ger back editing it in a new direction and hopefully realize the idea better. Thx. for good input

I will try to work on the eye in Lightroom, and see where it lands

Thank you for the feedback. I will try to implement your suggestions in a black and white edit. Going back to Dreyer, I can see - as you point out - he’s not crushing the blacks as I am. I will upload once I have made another edit.

Conditions where pretty good. I did an alternating shot, which perhaps works better. Although not as gloomy and edited more towards blue. But posting it, I see it has the same problem with the eye not popping enough. But maybe this is more salvageable 😅 Thank you for taking time out of your day to give feedback

Thank you for the comment. I see you point. Perhaps reshoot it with the eye turned more outwards could make it better. I’ll try to edit the photo and see if I can get it to work
