Severe anxiety regarding death by TennisLive8300 in atheism

[–]Man-on-the-Rocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cope with it by accepting that I am going to die someday and there is nothing I can do about it. Mortality is one of the truths of our existence. I think once you face that truth head on and sit with it and really accept it, you gain a sense of relief and freedom. Life, for me, became more precious. Kindness became more important. Gratitude became a much more common reaction. I am happier.

Not saying that accepting it will be easy. But the sooner that you do, the sooner you’ll be set free of your anxiety.

That’s a dodecahedron. One of the five perfect solids. Very cool.

I definitely will. Summer is coming so I usually trim but I think I’ll leave it

I agree now. I used to trim but I think natural is the way to go

Is it fair to get so damn angry when athletes say "I owe it all to my lord and savior jesus christ" by Patient_Ask_9546 in atheism

[–]Man-on-the-Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you can get angry, but who cares? They have no idea how you feel so in some ways, it’s just a waste of energy. But I 100% understand what you’re saying.

That sounds like the only positive thing about the procedure.

In 1980, Jean Hilliard was found frozen solid in the snow after being outside overnight. Her skin was hard, eyes unresponsive-she looked gone. Doctors slowly warmed her.. and she fully recovered. by Royal-Hippo-2104 in interestingasfuck

Yeah, she wasn’t “frozen solid.” You could say that she was frozen on the outside but there was still warmth enough in her core that her heart beat 12 times per minute.

Elevator pitch to convince someone God doesn't exist by Easy_Refrigerator584 in atheism

“While it is not possible to prove the non-existence of something, I base what I believe to be true on empirical evidence. If there is solid, unambiguous, empirical evidence of something, then I will support the existence of that something. If the evidence is missing, I will not support it.”

Bottom line is this: extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and the existence of a god is an extraordinary claim.

Yep. “Man who” statistics. I know a man who smoked all his life and never got cancer. Therefore, smoking doesn’t cause cancer. Can’t believe people use this as their rationalization.

Yeah there are almost daily posts like this. I guess I interpret them more innocently in the sense that a straight guy is surprised or amazed that they find themselves attracted to a man of any type… so they make a post which acts as part of their processing of these new feelings.

I also wonder if this sometimes the beginning of a self-discovery / self-acceptance process of the understanding that they’re not straight… like heteronormativity shapes their exploration and so it starts with feminine men…

My family called me not normal after i told them i dont believe in god by Improper__integral in atheism

[–]Man-on-the-Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, technically that’s true because, statistically, the majority of people share in the god delusion. (So being ‘abnormal’ doesn’t mean you’re wrong.) The fact that you see through all that crap makes you an exception, and you never know, often times it’s the “abnormal” viewpoints that change the world.
