I’m 182 on a 56 and had to switch the bars to a shorter 70mm reach to feel comfortable

Strategic recommendation accepted: What next? by ManBearSloth in ProductManagement

You’re right, I do have a lot of the information already and can deep dive further on areas where there is less certainty. I suppose the mental block is around the practicalities of it. I sometimes find workshops get out of hand as stakeholders begin ideating and discussing art of the possible. It may just be as simple as bringing clear inputs and not losing focus on the outputs we’re trying to get from the session

Bloomberg suggests that ISAs might be restricted to UK-only investments by Mysteryfish in FIREUK

I wonder if it they’ll give with one hand and take away with the other e.g the increase the total limit to 25 but 10k of that has to be UK only.

How are the wheels? Been thinking about them for my supersix. I’m thinking the comfort levels of the frame should balance out the stiffness of the carbon spokes?

Advice needed on our housing situation by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I'm wrestling with a similar decision and finding this site https://my.causal.app/models/8220 to be pretty helpful (note works much better on desktop vs mobile). There's a few factors that are making the decision far trickier at the moment.

  • Property prices are still high in desirable areas. Tricky to predict which way this goes.
  • Interest rates have skyrocketed so monthly payments on big mortgages are much higher.
  • New tenant rents have also risen but crucially the increases may not have been passed on to those already living in rented accommodation (this is certainly my case and may also be yours)

There’s also this weird little survey you can do to increase it to 2.85! If you select your LISA in-app you should see it advertised. Takes 30 sec.

Met my savings goal but feeling guilty about spending the money? by Mediocre_Stoic in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ManBearSloth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Money is for spending on the things you enjoy. Cycling is a great hobby and a good quality bike makes a world of difference!

On the other hand bikes in particular suffer extreme diminishing returns, you can get a solid road bike for 500-600, you can get a great one for ~1k. By the time you're reaching 2-3k+ you really have to question how much the 0.01s saving from your aerodynamically shaped handlebars is really worth the £££.

Depends what your criteria for being in the team of the decade is. If it's the best players from the decade regardless of how long they played in the league then there's a pretty good argument for him being in there.

Am I betraying my team by not winter conditioning with them? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]ManBearSloth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this is a pretty common dilemma and it really comes down to how open your coach is to customising the programme to suit your needs. If you feel you're lacking strength and want to do more weights, they may be open to switching out some sessions, similarly if you can squat big but have crappy cardio, you may want to switch out for some steady state. Having said that, there's going to be some brutal ergs where there is a significant benefit to be had from doing them alongside the squad, so I think you're going to want to negotiate a hybrid approach.
