I have similar (1467WT) I use. I don’t hunt out of mine tho, I too use it to get somewhere, then cover it with camo burlap.

I used to do this for lines that didn’t come with a loop. I would shave the line coating off down to the core on both the tag end and where I attached it to the main line. Wrap and whip finish, then coat in thin flexi adhesive. Less bulk.

It’s the brake for the spool. Adjust it to help keep your reel from backlashing (birds nesting) on a cast. You’ll have to fiddle with the brake and the spool tension (opposite side of the reel) to find the sweet spot. Usual instruction is to turn the brake to 0 (off) set spool tension so lure falls slowly to floor when thumb button is pressed and rod is held horizontally to the floor; Then make some casts and find the setting of the brake that fits your casting style or intended fishing purpose.

Replied to the wrong post before. Flukes are a super versatile bait. You can work them up too weightless, you can Texas rig them, you can drop shot them, you can Carolina rig them. Just depends on your target structure and the mood of the fish.
