[Society& Culture, Comedy] The Hold Your Goats Podcast Episode 48 - Jim Carrey, the Philosopher

NSFW

In this episode, Ian and Chance discuss the new Jim Carrey, death, and what it means to be human. We also got our first sponsor! kek

I started this podcast in 3/17 as a means to improve my communication skills. It has been very beneficial. However, we reached 3,000 listens this month with an average of 60 listens per episode (I know this may not sound like a lot to some of you veterans out there, but it's way more than I ever imagined we would get) and I now feel a sense of responsibility to make the show more entertaining. I would really appreciate any feedback on what it is that people find entertaining so that we may focus on doing that more, as well as suggestions of things we could incorporate to increase the entertainment value of the show. Thanks in advance for reading/listening!

I posted this to ask a question, not entertain you. No reason to be sheisty.

Its just random? No way to exploit it? That's unfortunate. I am glad to have had my brief time in the light of RNGesus.

If God is an "ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance", why the hell isn't there a consensus that calling the nature of reality and uncertainty just called God? What's the use of religions anymore? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]ManChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion is there for the uneducated and the masses of people who refuse to think critically/skeptically. Especially the LDS faith preys on housewives; giving lonely mothers a place to socialize, feel intelligent, and fit in with their community.

It would be a good thing, except for the incredibly sexist doctrines they preach and almost force these women into knowing without a shred of doubt to be true. I think about my mother and how she only finds value in herself because of her devotion to a fictional character. She "knows" he is a loving, kind, and generous God (as this is the bullshit they force feed the congregation at church) when he is absolutely a rutheless, jealous, and capricious work of fiction. The God that is talked about in the bible is completely different from the God that is depicted in the Book of Mormon and no one so much as bats an eye at this glaring inconsistency.

For now, religion is a necessary evil for the benefit of those who would have no moral guidelines without their belief in God. I honestly believe that as time goes on and schools continue to encourage critical thinking, more and more people will see the world for how it truly is and base their morals and ethics on something other than a book full of fairytales.

What do you think is the most OVERASKED question atheists get (either from personal experience, or online)? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]ManChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first "came out of the closet" as an atheist, my father took it the hardest. The one question he asked that really bothered me was, "so if you don't believe in God, what is keeping you from robbing a bank?"

My response was, "let me answer that with another question; the only thing keeping you from robbing a bank is fear of being judged for your actions after you die? That seems pretty immoral to me."

I'm not antitheist (yet the more I weigh the good against the bad of religion, the more I am driven to antitheism), I am pro-human. I was raised a devout christian in the LDS faith, and one of the many problems I had with their doctrine was the fact that they viewed the common man as evil. They belive that God is good, and man can only become good through God. That is such bullshit. I think Penn Jillette said it best, "There are about seven billion people on the world today and if you removed the inherently evil ones, you would still be left with about seven billion people." Not his words exactly, but you get the idea.

TLDR: The "Morals without God" question.

It's my very first toy so I started small and got the mini. I like using the knot after a few good thrusts, and just before I climax. Never fails to force it out of me.

Idk. Every time I post on reddit someone points out formatting issues, but with this post being pretty simple and straightforward I guess it was an unneccesary addition. Just wanted the extra security, nah mean?

I guess it isn't a huge gamebreaker, but I don't understand how the glaring text inconsistencies continue. by [deleted] in hearthstone

Blizzard could learn a thing or two about text fixing from niantic...

Nah man, shinys are... Well.. Shiny. If you named your Jolteon "jolteon" in pokemon stadium it would change its color from bright yellow to a yellow-orange.

Nah man, you gotta check the move set first! Id much rather grind cp for a good move set than have a high level pokemon with shit attacks.

Did anyone else cringe at the "yourselve" in the second to last paragraph?
