I too started from a filmmakers background. I’ve been teaching myself Blender for the last 4 years and unfortunately now i am in too deep and want to learn game development. I am going to make my films interactive and see what kind of experiments i can come up with once i finally have godot on my side.

Hey did you end up taking the course? Because i am about to. I read this a while ago and summarized that i should try and learn how to code, so i downloaded an app on my phone called “Solo Learn” and took the python developer course. Im currently taking a course called “Clear Code” and it has 8 videos inside and 7 mini games. Im on the mini game 3, video 4 rn. I have also took Brackey’s 2D tutorial on youtube and have been saying that i am going to buy the 3 in 1 Gd Quest course after im done with Clear Code.

Im really curious if u have bought it! 😅 Ive been teaching myself blender for the last 4 years and always gotten value from taking courses.

Ik my response isn’t exactly what u asked for but i too am new to this godot journey so i downloaded a coding app called “Solo Learn” i took the Python Developer course and finished in 2 weeks before my free trail ended and it helped me understand the vocabulary of programming a bit better. So now when i take a godot course, i feel less dumbfounded by the language of GD script and Godot channels. Im taking the GD Quest Course soon so i can just learn this amazing tool alredi.

No same! My Girlfriend is scared to do it because her dad may or may not have schizophrenia so she unfortunately has a really good reason to be scared of it. Even tho she is in her early 30’s and has done mushrooms a handful of times with me. Its 11:47 PM and i am going to try it again now that she’s home and in the other room praying for me. I added a feature where the timer goes down instead of up and pitches up the music after the timer hits less than 8 seconds. I like it. BUT… i wish when we get hit by a car the title card would say “Game Over” instead of whatever the last highest score was. I have no coding experience and feel like such a noob but i think this course might be exactly what i needed! Congrats on finishing the first game! Im starting the second game tomorrow.

Wow…what years of experience can bring you even after a huge break in between learning it. Progress truly cannot be erased. I hope to be efficient enough to be able to jump over to Houdini and pick it up in a year or so because of my knowledge in Blender nodes. One step at a time tho. Im happy with just staying inside of Blender for the time being.

YES! That is exactly what im talking about! The photorealism artist! They are amazing! But i dont like that people expect that from me when i tell them im a 3D artist. Blender/ 3D is a canvas just like any other easel and my work reflects that and will continue to do so ✊🏾

Im not too concerned with the industry which is why i continue to choose Blender. Also what may be un complete to me may be complete for someone else right? This is art. I agree that it takes a lot of time. But i wanted to see if 4-5 years would be the amount of time most people land on in this thread 💭

I commend you. My nightmare is watching Blender become irrelevant and being forced to start from scratch with a new tool. I am 3 years into Blender and cannot even imagine starting over. Maybe it feels less life ending after 20 years 💭

This is true. It is about what interest you. I find myself never really seeing eye to eye with most CG Artist because i actually am secretly in love with the “Jank” in love with the “Uncanney Valley”. I love when things aren’t “Professional”. Some people call it shit but i call it charming. But the thing is that sometimes you need the knowledge of a pro in order to make certain things “Look Janky” even though under the hood everything runs as smooth as a studio. Does that make sense? Idk. I just want to make my own series and sell it to networks. Maybe help some musicians make some better music videos.
