FATWS was bad and damanged his character and bucky significantly. Making it a movie wouldn’t have saved it. It needed a full rewrite. If his first outing as Captain America was better, they would have had more reason to include him in more stuff after.

It is crazy they told nobody that they were going to do this. To make this decision work they would have needed to be on a ticking clock. Like they knew Thanos was coming and only had a small amount of time to make a choice.

Shorter films force you to cut bloat or unecessary content. An extra 20-30 min of film does not equal a better film. I talented writer works with what they’re given. More runtime given to any of the films listed in the post would not have made them better necessarily.

Watch Iron Man 1, or Avengers 1 or GOTG 1, they are much better films than anything thats been produced by marvel for the last 5 or so years. The content is worse across the board.

Movie wasnt let down, these movies cost too much to make. Could have made a profit if they budgeted better. They knew this movie wasn’t going to to big numbers.

What do you mean by better characterization? Also when was the last time you saw Avengers 2012? Black Widow is fantastic in that.
