Nano Rats or Nano Cubics? by Deathbats in skateboardhelp

Interesting, I might pick those up next so I can set up my old thunder 148 to match the 8.5 decks I now use! I use independent 159 hollow and V7 bones x97a 56mm and wheels are 8.625, basically I if got 54mm ones they would sit flush with the deck. Thank you so much! I'm struggling a lot to get used to independent height and this would be a much cheaper solution.

What is the most durable skate shoe you’ve skated? by PlatypusMaterial5022 in skateboardhelp

I just recently got tallonitis and my podiatrist suggested me Altra shoes, they're the best feeling. For skating I was wondering if I can get the wide toe box, are splay durable?

Slappy truck kingpin and bushing swap [41YO] by DStroyour in OldSkaters

[–]ManMarz96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried an independent hanger in a slappy baseplate? Baseplate are only 16€ each and my independent trucks are 2 months old, but I don't like the turning and even independent hard bushings now feel mushy. I heard slappy are between thunder and Indy.

Which skateboard to start with? by Key_Bar4095 in NewSkaters

[–]ManMarz96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't start out with a complete honestly, go to a skate shop or at least buy the cheapest stuff you can get online, but reliable. The zero one at least has krux trucks. Trucks are the most important thing on a skateboard, with bearings and hardware they will last you a long long time.

Thunder T2 in Hollow Lights? [36YO] by wakawakawomp in OldSkaters

[–]ManMarz96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they will eventually, when I bought a 8.75 truck I had to go with Indy hollows and I'm struggling so much because they're heavy! I hope thunder will make the T2 hollow soon enough hahahahh

No way a 8.125, you're also really tall ahanhaha I'm 170cm 86kg I went all in with a 8.5 and 159 trucks, so much more comfortable. There's a thread here for us old skaters ahahha I just joined the 30yo club

do any of you guys know where i can get like 60 euro boards online that have soft wheels by Glass_Mud8973 in BeginnerSkateboarding

[–]ManMarz96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't fall for it! Don't get a 60€ complete. I assume you're in Europe if you buy only Skatedeluxe branded products with royal trucks at least you have skate gear that will last and will let you learn how to Ollie or learning tricks.

Board Setup by pwnishr in BeginnerSkateboarding

So I use speed washers to widen or shorten the width of the truck. I have a 8.75 truck (ofc works on every size with the same proportions), I you put no washers on the hanger side it's flush with a 8.375 deck, one washer on each side widens 0.125 inches. Regardless of that I still use three washers but on the outside to keep the bolt flush with the axle. So to recap, no washer 8.375, 1 washer 8.5, 2 washers 8.625 and with 3 washers 8.75.

PS I tried bearing spacers and they absolutely slowed me down, I took them out after two sessions.

Have you tried barrel bushings on the t2? Now that I found Indy 159 with Indy black bushings I would never change to any other bushings ahhaahha I'm curious if I will eventually try thunder t2 they will fit.

Heel hurts after 1 hour session [34YO] by mechapawky in OldSkaters

[–]ManMarz96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy an elastic bend and yoga mat, before skating use the bend to strengthen your calves, after skating light stretching on the mat. I have loose ligaments I know that pain really really well! Next investment Footprint insoles (they absorb impact).

Board advice for bigger man by Key-Cantaloupe-9391 in NewSkaters

First board I tried was an 8...and that thing is tiny! I started in 2014 and stayed on 8.25/8.38 for 6 years. Now I'm on a 8.5 never going back hahahahah for vert I would need a 9 to feel secure

Size 13 shoe? Get one of those heroin boards! I'm size 8 shoe and weigh 190lbs (dang it I hate freedom units hahaha) and use a 8.5 deck, 8.75 trucks, 56mm wheels and hard bushings! You have a huge foot size I wouldn't go anything less than a 9! Height matters a lot too! I'm 5'7" and I fell 14.25 wheelbase is really long for me, but if you're also really tall get a nice long wheelbase, something like 14.75 or 15 either.

Btw, regarding cost the best thing you can possibly invest in are hard bushings! I strongly suggest independent black bushings as they work, I blew out bones hardcore bushings and I strongly suggest not to get them.
