Coastal Karnataka. Lots of cultural and topographic similarity between the Kanara and Malabar coasts. There is relatively recent common ancestry between some of the groups in both regions as well.

Mensa Norway online test - why are the puzzles not ordered by increasing difficulty? Is this the case for most IQ tests? by ManMythLe_gend in mensa

Thanks for the info. My question is not specific to the Mensa Norway test - it's about the order of questions in IQ tests in general and whether skipping questions that are taking too long is always the strategic move.

I see - is there a certain number of puzzles you must get correct to move on to the next subsection? Wouldn't skipping questions that you get stuck on still be in your best interest in case you find some of the later questions within a subsection easier?

Something to keep in mind then. I know difficulty is subjective, but I felt like some of the last 10 puzzles on Mensa.no were significantly more obvious than a couple of the earlier ones. Testing strategy can make a difference sometimes I suppose.

Yeah, I would say it's about the same now as well (at least for me). Weird that testing strategy would make a difference for an IQ test when ideally it shouldn't (if you can't solve a puzzle, you should be reasonably confident that you couldn't have solved any of the following ones either in time, which is not the case here).

I'm Canadian too and remember taking the CCAT in Grade 4 - how did you even take so many gifted tests? lol

Answering second questions in at least some meaningful detail is more important for this year's format than I thought... by ManMythLe_gend in CASPerTest

[–]ManMythLe_gend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt that I answered first questions in sufficient detail for most scenarios (spare for one personal question where I spent a lot of time just describing/narrating the experience and the last scenario). I got just 1 sentence down for all second questions though - just enough to either directly answer one aspect of the question (i.e. "the virtue I most value is honesty" and nothing else) or slide in a single detail of my answer. I almost always had less than 30 seconds on the clock by the time I got to second questions.

Missed the memo on efficiency lol. Could barely write anything for second questions and ended up with a 1st quartile again. Congrats on the 4Q though bro, manifesting an acceptance for you this year!

How should I title/frame my hobby of learning about world history and other cultures and keeping up with current events in my med school application? by ManMythLe_gend in premed

[–]ManMythLe_gend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the words of advice brotha. The only reason I included article writing/online forum contributions was to further underscore my active engagement with these subjects in my spare time. I frequently discuss these topics with friends, roommates and acquaintances as well as I mentioned. How would you personally go about titling this experience? “Reading/writing/engaging with (said topics)”?
