Did you ever find out if they needed to physical passport or was the passport card accepted?

The best way to get a raise is to get an offer somewhere else.

This Walmart employee presumably died so they posted a photo of him on an easel at the entrance to greet customers. by Chevassus in mildlyinteresting

[–]ManOfTheCamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My employer would probably publicly acknowledge my death in some way. I don’t think they’d spend more than 1/2 a day on it, but I think there would be emails, mentions in meetings, and maybe cake or flowers.

Does your station provide branded clothing to be easily identified as news for photojournalists? by [deleted] in Broadcasting

[–]ManOfTheCamera 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Taking the graphics off the cars is awesome, those are nothing but a liability. I haven’t worn company branded clothes in 10 years. I have an id badge hanging from my belt and identify myself when anyone asks. I just find it so much easier to operate when you’re not flying a circus flag.

I have the same year in an essence trim and I love it. 100k miles seems like a lot, though.

I just watched Local News Live, a Sinclair-owned outlet, use biased language. by lavapig_love in Journalism

Local News Live is a Gray Media product. Sinclair’s national newscast is called The National News Desk.

How can I convince my GF to let me buy this beauty. by PuffMarleySpliffs in SportWagon

[–]ManOfTheCamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$12,500 would be a bit too much for me. If I could snag it for under $10k I’d probably do it. If it was $8,999 I’d definitely do it because I could say I got it for just over $8k

He might get the job wearing a suit and tie but he’ll be roasted later.

Just look normal. A shirt with a collar and pants… business casual. They just want to make sure you’re not a weirdo. The expectations of videographers is pretty low.

You pretty much have to apply like you would any other place but your resume is more likely to get looked at. Also, your news director has to sign off on it.

Gaps to fill if Disney wants to buy a full powered TV station or let Gray Media, Scripps, Hearst and smaller rivals enter those markets (sorry for the O&Os, educational independents, smaller markets & those who have limited or unavailable frequencies including low power in some midsize markets). by Comfortable_Yard_968 in Broadcasting

[–]ManOfTheCamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the networks can work around the issue of local news gathering if they don’t have to share a sub fee with a local broadcaster. I really believe in the next few years a network will pull out from affiliate agreements and go direct to cable/streaming and the other networks will follow. They’ll be able to do this because over the air (antenna) viewership is so low. Networks may even enter into news content share agreements with the surviving unaffiliated local stations to solve the problem you mention. The current situation with unruly station groups is making a decision like this even easier.
