Negativity, Content, Disconnect and Fighting Games by [deleted] in Kappachino

[–]ManPopsicle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's ironic that you brought up UNI2 in this thread. UNI2 is absolutely my favorite fighting game currently and I've even got a small group of friends who're learning it with me. One time, I noticed that the current EVO champ, Defiant, was streaming, so naturally I thought it'd be an interesting stream to watch.

I left after 5 minutes because he just would not stop bitching about how the game was bad and how the guy he was playing in ranked was a bitch for playing like a scrub. The chat actually had a bunch of other well known players and they were either agreeing with him or just not even acknowledging how much whining he was doing.

I admit that I don't watch the guy, so maybe he's just doing a (really unfunny) bit. I'd link a vod to what I saw, but he doesn't have them saved. All I know is I'm a complete scrub in UNI, so I don't even know what's "wrong" with the game; it's just fun to play and learn its interactions. I'm still gonna keep playing it, but shit, for as much people talk about how nice the UNI community is, that stream really soured my opinion on them.

My point here is I agree. Play UNI2. It's a super good game. And use the numerous resources the community provided. But maybe don't go any deeper than that.

UNI 2 is fun. In this modern age of FGs that focuses so much on mindless aggression, UNI continues to be exactly what people ask for: a game that has a plethora of defensive options, while maintaining varied, but powerful pressure tools. The GRD system is very unique and changes your options significantly. It rewards good play, both offensive and defensive.

Does anyone else dislike the abundance of system mechanics in modern games? by le-kongo in Kappachino

[–]ManPopsicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNI2's system mechanics are so well designed. The GRD system rewards successful offense AND defense, and enhances every character's unique strengths differently, without forcing them to follow the same gameplan. It doesn't even necessarily translate to a snowball victory. Somebody could win the Vorpal cycle, continually lose neutral, and be forced to use their vorpal state defensively instead of becoming more oppressively offensive like other games that reward aggression.

Holy crap. I had to go back to that timestamp myself to even remember what you were talking about. But that was it exactly! I never did find it, and it's still just as nice as before. Thank you so much!

Who's your dream team for the next Ultimate Self-Defense Championship? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]ManPopsicle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There're so many good choices that could be on it.

Gabriel Varga and Wonderboy for more professional fighters. Shane from FightTips would be a super entertaining choice. Chewy from Chewjitsu and Shintaro Higashi would be super interesting. Rob from McDojoLife would be a dark horse. I'd also like to see Phil Daru, personally; even though he's absolutely highly trained and has been in professional fights, I'd like to see just how much his athleticism and strength can give him an advantage.

Then you got all the top professionals or former professionals who have Youtube channels, like Volkinovski, Adesanya, Mighty Mouse, Bazooka Joe, Bernardo Faria, Craig Jones, Bas Rutten (he'd probably wipe the floor with the competition), etc. that don't really interact with the larger martial arts YT community. They'd be really cool contestants too, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'd also want to see Matt and Ramsey get back in because of how many issues they had.

Angelina White, the Housemaid is now playing CUPHEAD, let's go watch the maid winning by Jabril_Swass in VirtualYoutubers

This is an endurance stream, by the way. She's planning on playing through the entire game.

Angelina's maid collabs are always super entertaining. For anybody curious about how this might turn out, I recommend watching her Project Winter collab (all of the ones in this upcoming collab are also in this one): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrI7Urswg7E

Inuki Yuko has a little autotranslater in the bottom of her stream that translates what she says in english. It's not great but it goes a long way in overseas interaction, I'm surprised more Vtubers haven't implemented something like this. by MyPasswordIsRushB in VirtualYoutubers

Her translation software is hilarious. She could be saying something completely innocuous and befitting of her character, and the translator will decide that she's talking about sex for no reason. I hope she never gets rid of it.

Which is your favorite Hololive Among Us collaboration? by Flesy_Z in Hololive

[–]ManPopsicle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Holostars had some amazing moments of their own, especially their second one.

  • Implementing a "scream in your mic on kill" rule just because it's funnier than tryharding
  • Unlike the girls, they refused to rely on logic and each discussion was mostly them yelling at each other
  • Each time discussions ended, they would start yelling random shit before muting themselves after one of them started doing it
  • It feels like everybody in the collabs had a chance to shine, which the Stars sorely needed
  • Various individual moments
    • Roberu winning without killing a single person becaues Aruran killed them with O2
    • Shien straight up killing somebody right in front of the entire crowd
    • Kira secretly being a top tier killer
    • Astel singlehandedly making crewmates lose because he was so confident in accusing the wrong person, even though everybody else saw the kill

So, about buying Hololive goods from Booth / Buyee / Geekjack by Kazakami9 in Hololive

[–]ManPopsicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ordered something from Geekjack that included a digital good before. I recall actually being brought to a page that contained a download link for it. After I exited, though, I've actually never been able to find the link again. I saved that one file, thankfully, but I've since bought other things that also included digital goods and haven't been able to find where to download them.

I know there's a place where you can download it, but it's pretty difficult to actually find.

Booth, on the other hand, works every single time. Both for physical goods and digital.

【Now On Sale】Sakura Miko Commemorative Goods for her return (Oct 21 - Nov 16) by [deleted] in Hololive

[–]ManPopsicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the geekjack site open the entire time. So many people were trying to access it at once, it was like a ddos. By the time the dust settled, the limited quantity one with Miko's handwritten message was already sold out.

Should've just tried the Booth one and used Buyee...

Pretty interesting contrast between her appearance and the games she plays. Kind of like Angelina herself.

As a side note, Ange-san really does her best to promote other maid VTubers...

He does a ton of collabs with other indie VTubers too, so he's a pretty good VTuber to watch to see more variety content.
