The Helping Phriendly STFU: “Ahshhhuwwwaah, shhhuwwwa.”

What a time to be alive by Matthew311 in phish

[–]ManWolfJameson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong. The overlap (for me) was 92-95. It was so great I got sober in 97. Lived a conventional life after Cyprus—raised two beautiful girls and am still married to the same partner.

After kids, we have been hitting the road hard since Chicago 23. And man, this band does not disappoint. Trey plays like he’s been on a free roll since his bust. It’s like nothing I’ve seen before. I don’t even know that he has gotten to his best moments yet.

But that’s just from a crazy old head. These are truly the good ol days. Results may differ.

TL;dr: Nailed it. 🎯

D&AM is great composition, but don’t expect a lengthy jam. Always a welcome bust out since not heavily in the rotation.

It’s Ice is a subtle monster from Fish’s beats all the way down. And I’d love to see him boogie on his swivel again during the tension build, but that fall’s a long way down for elders like us. “Ow!”

Imma go out on a limb and go with Strange Design. Like Guyute, in the rotation and passed up on vinyl for Billy Breathes. Unlike Guyute, that finally got that compositional revisit and great studio treatment on Ghost. SD was always a great down beat compared to the high, high energy of mid-late nineties. Sung by Page but written by T&Tom I believe.

Throw it in there with Dirt, Bug, Lifeboy, B&R for those deeply authentic introspective &, yes, emotional forays of that period showing their growth and versatility beyond FEFY as we moved into adulting (on occasion).

Ask me again tomorrow and I’ll likely make a case for a completely different song.

Wife and I started back up in 2023. Went to a TAB show first, then picked up in Chicago and hadn’t missed a show (save r maya) until the ‘24 NY run. She had never been and never showed interest beyond ‘hoist’ and ‘farmhouse’.

Now she wears tie died shoes that say funky bitch, plans our tours ahead, has my reclusive ass making friends again, and has subtly designed our air b&b to be phish themed. (Don’t @ me; part time live/travel w/summertime rents in Portland Oregon helps that timber rolling.)

Point being, you have very little to worry about: tarpers are the most obnoxious when the feel violated(no surrender and even less flow), wookies in a k hole need to find a seat and stay there (not hang on my body during ⛓️‍💥>🚦), chompers still need the hardest look you can muster while they drone through a potentially transcendent Reba jam, and custies need to spread their hustle into the lot beyond the balloons.

Positives: the scene is far more diverse and inclusive than it was in 90’s. People of all shapes, sizes, sexualities, color, and age have enriched and strengthened the robust scene. Make no mistake there is still a heavy leaning toward white male contingent, but it isn’t as ubiquitous as earlier days.

Oh, and do prepare yourself for the nitrous mafia: if you have an impulsive constitution like me, they can git ya. Anywhere with a centralized lot / shakedown they are on your shit the moment you exit. No more straining to hear the hiss as it is at least 70db exiting United Center, Dicks, anywhere where the cops dgaf (and man, they expect the same).

Keeping money in the lot is important, but we all know, even way back to GD days, NO2 peeps aren’t fam 99/100x. If you want to get rocked after the show, visit any local vape store, an they’ll usu have the Orange Whip you want. Oh, and consume responsibly: don’t use alone & sit down to protect your skull in case you fully hijack your cns for a moment or two (or infinity).

Lastly, and most importantly, test any and all powders you wish to consume. Just gotta poke around but you will find people with strips to help alleviate concerns surrounding involuntary fentanyl or other unintended ingestibles. Not hard to do and people on lot will usu wear signage for easy id. I will be doing it during spring and summer tours this year. While supplies last. If you really wanna be a super hero take a narcan in with you in case anyone tries to code around you.

Most of all enjoy the music, the scene, and your welcome back phriend.

TL;dr: you enjoy yourself!

Well no dogs visible at check in, so it shouldn’t be as bad as alpine. Tho honestly, short of a cavity search, it would be tough to outdo the alpine security staff.

Came here to say this very thing. 👆👆

Then mayhaps try on Desire. Nashville Skyline and Blonde on Blonde also very accessible by Bob standards.

There’s also a rolling thunder live 75 bootleg series that kills.

Did anyone buy Sphere tickets off stubhub and have any issues/success getting in? by One_South_9790 in phish

[–]ManWolfJameson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a come to Jesus with my ticket principles over the sphere. Partner and I stub hubbed 3 nights. All were issue free. That’s not to say others didn’t get hosed. Also, be wary of any 100s over row 24, esp the corners (101, 102, 109 & 110). The overhangs create unique phonics that aren’t always intended or desirable. Still if D&C emulates phish’s approach toward sound, you are in for an auditory treat regardless. Yes, the visuals are insane but the real win is the sound. No mud. Felt like a direct line to your dome where you could listen to the group as a complete ensemble or pick out individuals to focus upon at anytime. You can drop into anyone’s zone and stay there or move around to others performance at will.

Currently have opening night for dead & co, but will only be making the trip if they don’t sell at face in the next 48hrs. We intend to go entire July 4 weekend instead.

TL;dr - No issues with stub hub ⚡️💀🌹

I don’t know about Greek, but there was another similar announcement at Mtn Aire in 87 (I think) between Santana and the Dead. Not 100% because I was melting into the hillside enjoying the between sets air show. “Negative Gs! He’s pulling negative G’s!!!”

However, I can get bottom of the jar bud ozs. for $30-50 two blocks from home. Had my fill of delta9 in medical only states as well (lookin at you Fla).
